GROUND-ONLY, SELF-DRIVE FROM THE TUNNEL
Load the boot, take the tunnel, tee off by lunch.
France golf holidays
Drive straight off LeShuttle and you're an afternoon from Harry Colt's La Mer links at Le Touquet, the old French Open course, with the Westminster's 1920s rooms five minutes away. Further south, Cabot Bordeaux pairs Bill Coore fairways with the Médoc vineyards. The crossing comes baked in, so the only thing left to pack is the clubs.

France is the quiet giant of European golf, and the one country you can reach with your own clubs in the boot. Drive on, take LeShuttle from Folkestone, and the Channel-coast courses at Le Touquet, Hardelot and Belle Dune are barely ninety minutes from Calais, with the crossing built into the price. Prefer to fly? Bordeaux, Nice and Biarritz are a short hop for the vineyard and Riviera golf further south. Either way you get links-like fairways on the Channel coast, championship layouts among the Bordeaux vines, sun-warmed courses on the Riviera, and some of the best food and wine in the world.
We have travelled and tailored French golf holidays since 1981, planning the whole trip end to end: hotel, tee times, transfers and every round.
Why play golf in France
France's strength is variety within easy reach. Few countries let you pair a morning round with a vineyard lunch, a Michelin dinner or a day in Paris. The golf runs from the historic Channel resorts — Le Touquet, Hardelot and the courses around the Somme — to the elegant parkland of Chantilly, the Atlantic edge of Brittany, and the pine-and-sunshine layouts of Provence and the Côte d'Azur. Every resort we feature has been visited by our team, so the recommendation you get is first-hand, not a brochure.
The courses you’ll play
In the north, the seaside courses of Le Touquet and Hardelot give a true British feel a short hop from home. Around Paris, Chantilly and the great parkland estates offer history and calm. Head south-west for Biarritz and the dramatic Atlantic coast, or to the Médoc where golf and grand cru sit side by side. In Brittany, Dinard and Saint-Malo play along the sea; in the south, the Riviera and Provence reward those who want golf with guaranteed warmth. We match the courses to your group, your handicaps and the trip you want.
Where you’ll stay
Our French hotels run from relaxed golf-resort four-stars to landmark five-stars. On the Channel coast we feature the Hôtel Barrière Le Westminster and Le Bristol at Le Touquet; in Brittany, the elegant Domaine de la Bretesche and Hôtel Barrière L'Hermitage at La Baule; near Paris, the Relais & Châteaux Auberge du Jeu de Paume at Chantilly; on the south-west coast, the iconic Hôtel du Palais at Biarritz; and in Burgundy, the Hôtel Golf Château de Chailly. Whether you want golf on the doorstep or a base for several courses, we build the stay around the golf.
Best time to play golf in France
France plays almost all year, but where you go depends on the season. The north and Atlantic coast — Le Touquet, Brittany, Normandy — are at their best from May to September, with long, mild days. Spring and autumn (April to June, September to October) are the sweet spot for most of the country: warm enough for shirt-sleeve golf, quiet on the fairways, and stunning in the Bordeaux and Burgundy vineyards at harvest. For winter sun, the Riviera and Provence stay playable through the cooler months. Tell us your dates and we'll point you to the region in form.
Getting there
France gives you two easy ways in. The simplest for the northern courses is to drive: load your clubs, take LeShuttle from Folkestone to Calais in thirty-five minutes, and you can be on the first tee at Le Touquet, Hardelot, Wimereux or Belle Dune the same day. On those Channel-coast breaks, and on drive-over stays as far as Burgundy and Bordeaux, we build the LeShuttle crossing into the price (usually based on four sharing a car), so there is no airport, no baggage fees for the clubs, and your own car waiting at the hotel. Prefer to fly for the south? Flights to Paris, Bordeaux, Nice, Nantes and Biarritz take one to two hours, and we arrange private transfers from the airport to your hotel and to each course. Want one ATOL-protected price with flights added? Just ask, and we handle everything on the ground.
Good to know
Every French holiday we arrange is tailor-made and ground-only as standard: your hotel, a chosen number of rounds with green fees, and transfers, built around your group. Buggies are available at most resorts (handy for the hillier southern courses), and dress is smart-casual on and off the course. Green fees and tee times are confirmed in writing before you travel — no surprises. Add flights, buggies, lessons or a second centre whenever you like; one specialist looks after you from first enquiry to the final putt.

Frequently asked questions
Golf holidays in France — answers to the questions our golfers ask most.
How long is LeShuttle crossing time to France
The Eurotunnel LeShuttle from Folkestone to Calais takes about 35 minutes, which makes a self-drive trip genuinely easy for the Northern France golf resorts. Le Touquet, Hardelot and the courses around the Somme are roughly two to three hours on from Calais, so you can load the clubs, drive on and be on the first tee the same day, and on those breaks we can include the crossing in the price. For the south and southwest, such as Biarritz, the Riviera and Provence, most golfers fly into Nice, Marseille, Biarritz or Bordeaux and we arrange transfers on the ground.
