About Grenoble Charmeil Golf Club
Grenoble Charmeil Golf Club is possibly the best course around this fascinating city. The lush course sits in a beautiful valley and has many superb holes. The course hosts the LPGA Tour Qualifying School and was designed by American Jeremy Pern.
Easy walking through oak and pine woodland, there are some water hazards and plenty of dog-legs to negotiate, although the par of 73 (6715 yards off the back) is quite generous. A very enjoyable track, made all the better with our top-value play and stay offers at on the three-star golf hotel on site.

Our take
Possibly the pick of the courses around Grenoble, Charmeil is an easy woodland walk through oak and pine where the doglegs and the water set the questions and a generous par 73 softens the answers.
- Serious golfersThe LPGA Tour Qualifying School comes here, which vouches for the greens and the set-up; leave the driver in the bag on the doglegs and plot your way to a score.
- Higher handicapsA generous par 73, a dead flat stroll through the trees, and only seven water hazards to plan around; one of the friendlier ways to take on a proper 6,715 yards.
- SocietiesEveryone in the group walks it easily, the valley keeps the wind out of play, and the mix of doglegs and water gives the better players something to argue about at dinner.

What you are actually facing
The wind. The wind is usually northerly, averaging 5 km/h. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. 7 hazards in play. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
The design. Jeremy Pern.
