About Lyon Golf Club
Lyon Golf Club is a previous host to the French Open and often rated among France’s best golf courses. Opened in 1919, it is also one of the most prestigious with two good courses and a renowned restaurant. 30 minutes to the east of Lyon, the courses are laid out over an enormous expanse of land and feature a terrific use of water and woodland. Les Sangliers is the “big course” and measures over 7200 yards off the Championship tees but you can knock off a thousand yards if you play from the yellows. Les Brocards is a little shorter with less water but just as good. Both courses are flat and quite American in design but there’s also a little heathland to overcome. One to remember.

A French Open venue dating from 1919, Lyon Golf Club spreads two courses across an enormous property of water and woodland, with Les Sangliers stretching past 7,200 yards when you want the full examination.
- Serious golfersLes Sangliers off the tips is a former French Open test, and the trouble arrives early; the 2nd and the 4th, Les Brocards, wreck more cards than anything after the turn.
- SocietiesTwo courses on one vast property plus a restaurant with a genuine reputation; rotate the draw across 36 holes and settle the arguments over a long French lunch.
- Higher handicapsThe forward tees knock plenty off the big course and the ground is virtually flat all the way, but the water and the woodland punish the crooked more than the short.
