• SocietiesTerrific value this close to the ferry, and the mix of nines lets stronger players take on the tight loop while the rest enjoy the open one. A natural first or last day of any Normandy itinerary.
• Higher handicapsThe open nine is the gentle way in, and with a bit under 100 metres of climb the full round is walkable without being flat. There is enough water about to punish a careless approach, so lay up when in doubt.
• Buddy tripsMatches tend to turn at the 5th and the 16th, so keep your powder dry when you get there. If the game finishes all square, a spare nine is waiting to settle it.
