About Golf National Aigle
Golf National Aigle course, outside Paris, is always in the shadow of its big brother, Golf National Albatros, but it’s actually a nice “inland links” layout.
It’s flat with meandering fairways and relatively small greens. It’s a great course for sharpening your game. Play and stay at the reliable hotel on site. It's fairly close to Versailles and also makes a good two-centre golf holiday with Normandy.

Our take
Forever in the shadow of the Albatros next door, the Aigle is a fine flat inland links in its own right and the smarter first round for most holiday golfers.
- Serious golfersSmall greens and meandering fairways ask for control rather than power, and the 9th and 14th are where the water collects its toll. A proper sharpener before the big one next door.
- Higher handicapsFlat, honest and far friendlier than the Albatros, though with over thirty water hazards you still need your wits about you. A good place to find your game rather than lose it.
- Buddy tripsStay at the hotel on site and you are on the first tee in minutes; it also pairs neatly with Normandy for a two-centre trip. Play it the day before you take on the Albatros.

What you are actually facing
The walk. Flat, and an easy walk — 77 metres of climb over the round.
The wind. The wind is usually south-westerly, averaging 11 km/h, gusting to 36. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. Water is very much in play across this course. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
