ABOUT THE GOLF COURSE

Golf National Albatros, near Paris,  is a beast of a course, rated in Europe’s top 25. Annual host of the French Open it will best known as the home of the European Ryder Cup victory in 2018.

From start to finish, the test is relentless with slick and large greens, daunting (but not overly imposing) water hazards and quality fairways – all framed by “stadium mounds” affording the player the sensation of seclusion and the spectator a bird’s eye view of several holes. The Albatros was designed by the great Robert von Hagge but has been attributed to Hubert Chesneau.  The clubhouse is relatively simple but professional.  This is a “tick list” golf course and well worth playing alongside its sister course, Golf National Aigle.
