Golf Planet Holidays organised a fantastic golf trip to France for us. Everything was perfectly arranged, and the communication was excellent. Simon and Heather were incredibly helpful throughout. Highly recommended!
About Moliets Golf Club
Moliets Golf club is about 25 minutes north of Seignosse and 30 minutes from Hossegor. Rated number 22 in France it is worth the hour’s drive from Biarritz and is also convenient if you’re travelling from or to Bordeaux. Originally designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior it was recently stretched to nearly 7000 yards off the very back. It is often used by the best French players as a training ground so maintenance is very impressive.
Moliets allows you to open your shoulders but it can be punishing if you’re having a bad day. The greens are so large that you’ve got to get your club selection right. Our favourite part of the golf course is the stretch around the turn leading to the four holes almost on the beach.

Our take
An hour up the coast from Biarritz, Moliets is a Robert Trent Jones Senior design kept in the sort of condition that persuades France's best players to practise here.
- Serious golfersNearly 7,000 yards off the very back tees and rated 22 in France, this is the round to build the trip around. The 15th and 17th are where the scorecard comes under real pressure late on.
- Higher handicapsPlay it well forward and it is perfectly manageable: flat, barely 72 metres of climb, nothing brutal underfoot. Water turns up seven times though, so pick your battles rather than chasing the back-tee yardage.
- Buddy tripsWorth the drive whether you are based in Biarritz, Seignosse or Hossegor. Make it the marquee day of the week on a course kept in immaculate condition.

What you are actually facing
The walk. Flat, and an easy walk — 72 metres of climb over the round.
The wind. The wind is usually westerly, averaging 10 km/h, gusting to 52. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. 7 hazards in play. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
The design. Robert Trent Jones Senior.
The holes that will cost you. The 15th, the 17th and the 5th. The 17th is the one you will be talking about afterwards.
