About Chiberta Golf Club
Chiberta Golf Club is one of the senior clubs in France, designed by the great Tom Simpson. This attractive golf course has nine holes running along the Atlantic Ocean coastline and nine through pine woodland.
There’s a further nine at Chiberta which is worth playing on your holiday either after lunch or a good course for budding golfers. Easy walking and a fairly relaxed challenge at the start. Then it calls for your A game as the raised greens are well defended. The layout encourages good play and you’re bound to want another round. No buggies are available.

Our take
Tom Simpson's coastal and pine woodland design is the grand old club of Biarritz, flat underfoot yet far sharper than it first appears once you reach those raised greens.
- Serious golfersThe 1st asks a proper question before you have warmed up, and the 12th is the card-wrecker later on; between them the raised greens are the whole examination on a par 70 of this length.
- Higher handicapsBarely 56 metres of climb across the round, so it's an easy, relaxed walk, and the pine holes give you room. The extra nine suits anyone still finding their game.
- CouplesNine holes along the Atlantic, nine through the pines, and a third nine to play together after lunch. An easy, sociable full day of golf.

The walk. Flat, and an easy walk — 56 metres of climb over the round.
The wind. The wind is usually westerly, averaging 11 km/h, gusting to 55. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
