About Biscarrosse Golf Club
Biscarrosse Golf Club is on the Atlantic coast south-west of Bordeaux, heading down towards Biarritz. It's a nice holiday course threading through a predominantly pine forest.
The course measures about 6300 yards off the back and is a par 72 so, at first glance, it looks pretty tame. However the first four holes are tight and it's best to take an iron off the tee unless you're fully warmed-up and ready. After that, the fairways become more generous and there's a clever use of doglegs. There aren't too many bunkers but the greens are fairly small.

Our take
Do not be fooled by 6,300 yards on the card, because the first four holes at Biscarrosse squeeze you between the pines before the course relaxes.
- Serious golfersOff the back tees it will not frighten anyone who plays regularly, and the pines are the only sustained defence. Treat it as a good warm-up or wind-down day rather than the trip's main test.
- Higher handicapsTake an iron off the first few tees, because the forest pinches in early, then enjoy the wider fairways that follow. About 100 metres of climb over the round, so a trolley does the job.
- Buddy tripsWith 27 holes you can play the match over 18 and settle any arguments over an extra nine. Expect scores to wobble at the 7th and again at the 13th, the two holes everyone talks about afterwards.
