About Belle Dune Golf Club
Golf in Northern France is not complete without a round at Belle Dune. Those who have played Belle Dune don’t understand why this fantastic golf course is not higher in the Europe rankings.
Whatever the reason, Belle Dune, outside Fort Mahon, is beautiful. It boasts tight-knit fairways in a glorious mixed setting of dunes, pines and huge skies. Belle Dune is a perfect example of “less is more” – very little shaping, subtle green-keeping and a small and welcoming clubhouse all go to make Belle Dune a firm favourite with golfers.
Belle Dune has a canny knack of letting you score well if you don’t take chances and to really punish you if you’re greedy.
There's a limited number of buggies so we do recommend reserving them in advance.
It is well worth the 40-minute drive from Le Touquet and 30 minutes from Montreuil-sur-Mer and the good three-star Hermitage hotel . If you plan to play it more than once we would recommend Montreuil-sur-Mer.

Our take
Nobody who has played Belle Dune quite understands why it is not ranked far higher in Europe, which for now keeps its dunes and pines pleasingly quiet.
- Serious golfersVery little shaping and subtle green-keeping leave the land and the breeze to defend the course, and they manage fine. Score early, because the 10th and the 13th are where good cards go to die.
- Higher handicapsTight-knit fairways and water in play across around 15 holes will cost you a few balls. The compensation is a flat, easy walk and a course so natural you will forgive it everything.
- Buddy tripsClose enough to the Channel ports to open or close a Northern France trip, and it is the round your group will still be arguing about on the crossing home.

What you are actually facing
The walk. Flat, and an easy walk — 65 metres of climb over the round.
The wind. The wind is usually westerly, averaging 16 km/h, gusting to 53. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. 15 hazards in play. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
