Golf Planet Holidays organised a fantastic golf trip to France for us. Everything was perfectly arranged, and the communication was excellent. Simon and Heather were incredibly helpful throughout. Highly recommended!
About Cely Golf Club
Cely Golf Club is about 15 minutes north of Fontainebleau heading up toward Paris. The beautiful course features a fair amount of water and typical Jack Nicklaus challenges. The course starts quite gently with a shortish par five and three par fours but then it gets tighter and trickier. The fairways are in good order and the greens – although quite small – are very fair. A short but testing course.

Our take
Short it may be, but Cely bites, with water lurking on hole after hole and a course that tightens the further you get from the gentle opening stretch.
- Serious golfersShort on the card, but with twenty-one separate water hazards and small greens the scoring is anything but easy; the 6th and the 15th ruin more cards than any others.
- Higher handicapsThe gentle opening stretch lulls you in, then the holes tighten and the water starts asking questions. Bring plenty of balls and take a par at the 6th as a small victory.
- Buddy tripsAround 120 metres of climb makes it a fair walk rather than a flat stroll, and with Fontainebleau under half an hour away you can build a serious 36-hole day around it.

What you are actually facing
The walk. Moderate. 118 metres of climb over the round.
The wind. The wind is usually south-westerly, averaging 11 km/h, gusting to 35. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. 21 hazards in play. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
The design. Marc Adam & Patrick Fromanger (with Jack Nicklaus Design).
The holes that will cost you. The 15th, the 6th and the 1st. The 15th is the one you will be talking about afterwards.
