About Evian Golf Club
Home to the Evian Championship, the fifth major on the world women's golf tour. Evian is an exceptionally manicured golf course set in 150 acres of prime parkland looking down on Lake Leman.
Evian is a tricky course with well-protected greens and several doglegs. It’s all about strategy. In fact, you can tell that the course is subtle yet difficult because the Slope Rating is a whopping 145 although the course measures less than 6700 yards with a par of 72. The start and finish are superb and quite relentless in their demands for clear thinking but there are a few holes around the turn that allow you to grab your score back.
Worthy of being part of the world-famous Resort Evian, Evian Golf Club will thrill you with its beauty and improve your game.

Our take
Evian stages the fifth women's major on a course that measures under 6,700 yards yet carries a slope of 145, which tells you how much thinking the doglegs and guarded greens demand.
- Serious golfersStrategy first: pick your lines through the doglegs, then commit to approaches over the water that appears ten times round the course, and accept that the 7th and 15th are where good rounds go to die.
- Higher handicapsThe yardage will not beat you but the design might; the greens are protected on every side, so aim for the middles, lay back where the doglegs pinch, and enjoy the lake below.
- CouplesViews over Lake Leman follow you round all 18, and with about 130 metres of climb across the whole round the walk is honest work rather than a slog.
Tell us who’s coming and how you like to play, and we’ll shape the right trip around you.
What you are actually facing
The walk. Moderate. 130 metres of climb over the round.
The wind. The wind is usually north-easterly, averaging 9 km/h, gusting to 41. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. 10 hazards in play. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
The design. Cabell B. Robinson (redesigned by Steve Smyers and European Golf Design, 2012-13).
The holes that will cost you. The 7th, the 15th and the 9th. The 13th is the one you will be talking about afterwards.
