About Macon La Salle Golf Club
The American parkland design of Golf de Macon la Salle regularly attracts major amateur events and the occasional PGA tournament. Just 10 minutes from Macon, the course is presented well with large and fast greens. The theme of the design is somewhat unusual, focusing on different parts of the body, from a leg to a hand. Most of the difficulty comes from the penal rough, but there are some blind shots. The fairways are usually kept wide so you should score well if your putting is on form.
La Commanderie golf course is also close to Macon.

Our take
When the PGA drops in at Macon La Salle it finds what you will: wide fairways, big fast greens and rough that makes every loose approach expensive.
- Serious golfersThe greens are large and quick and the rough is where the course defends itself, so approach play decides everything. Regular amateur championships here tell you the test is genuine.
- Higher handicapsFairways stay wide, the ground is completely flat and there is rarely much breeze, so the driving is friendly. It is the deep rough and the odd blind shot that will cost you.
- Buddy tripsTen minutes from Macon, with each hole themed on a part of the body, a leg here, a hand there. Odd, memorable, and a reliable source of clubhouse debate afterwards.

What you are actually facing
The wind. The wind is usually northerly, averaging 9 km/h, gusting to 33. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. 17 hazards in play. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
