Golf Planet Holidays organised a fantastic golf trip to France for us. Everything was perfectly arranged, and the communication was excellent. Simon and Heather were incredibly helpful throughout. Highly recommended!
About Bordeaux Lac Golf Club
Bordeaux Lac is a big golf club catering very well for the locals as it’s the least expensive and closest club to the city. Play here midweek to avoid the crowds.
There are two 18 hole courses – La Jalle, which is cut through woodland, and Les Etangs, which features wider fairways but plenty of water. Both are easy walking and measure about 6800 yards off the tips with a par of 72 but are not too technically challenging.
Bordeaux Lac is a good choice for a round of uncomplicated golf between the rounds at more heavyweight golf courses like Cabot Bordeaux, formerly known as Medoc and Grand Saint Emilionnais. As it's close to the city centre, it will also leave you plenty of time to explore this incredible city and its impressive past.

Our take
Two courses, city prices and dead flat walking make Bordeaux Lac the easy extra round of a Bordeaux trip rather than the centrepiece.
- Higher handicapsStart on Les Etangs, where the fairways are wide, before tackling La Jalle's woodland corridors. Neither course sets out to punish you, and with no slopes to climb a second 18 is entirely realistic.
- SocietiesThe least expensive golf this close to Bordeaux, with 36 holes on one site, which keeps the planning simple for a group. Book midweek, it belongs to the locals at weekends.
- Serious golfersBoth courses stretch to around 6,800 yards off the tips but neither is technically demanding, and the water on Les Etangs is the only real question asked. Fine for a loosener, not a course to build a trip around.

What you are actually facing
The wind. The wind is usually westerly, averaging 9 km/h, gusting to 39. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
Terrain and prevailing-weather data, read hole by hole. It is our own assessment of how the course plays, not an official course or slope rating.
