About Lac d’Annecy Golf Club
Lac d'Annecy is a tight and pretty golf course close to the shores of Lake Annecy. It is quite hilly and measures 5650 yards off the very back . The par is 70, so you would expect to score well, but the greens are small and very well-guarded. This is a course where accuracy and a super short game will reap rewards. The views are terrific and the food is good too. A nice holiday course.

Our take
Short on the card at 5,650 yards, Lac d'Annecy defends itself with tiny, well-guarded greens and nearly 200 metres of climb.
- Serious golfersPar 69 and 5,650 yards reads like a stroll, yet the small, well-defended greens punish anything loose. Cards tend to come unstuck at the 13th and again at the last.
- Higher handicapsThe scorecard length is kind and the air by the lake is usually still, so it plays gently for its setting. Take a buggy though, there is nearly 200 metres of climbing packed into the round.
- CouplesTerrific lake and mountain views, good food afterwards and a course that never outstays its welcome. As a relaxed day out for two in the Alps, this delivers everything you'd want from it.

What you are actually facing
The walk. Hilly — we would take a buggy. 193 metres of climb over eighteen holes.
The wind. The wind is usually north-westerly, averaging 5 km/h. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. 7 hazards in play. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
The design. Cecil Blandford.
The holes that will cost you. The 18th, the 13th and the 7th. The 18th is the one you will be talking about afterwards.
