About Milnerton Golf Club
Milnerton Golf Club is a lush links type golf course on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean just outside Cape Town. The sea and the RietVlei river lagoon border most holes with seven water holes just waiting to catch any wayward shots. The outward nine holes tend to play with the prevailing breeze behind you. After the turn you are into the wind and there's a fine stretch of three challenging holes to take you home, a short par four, a reachable par five and a long par four, all running back along the Rietvlei River.
The spectacular view of Table Mountain from almost every hole is breathtaking and you will love the outstanding bird displays around the water. Enjoy at least one drink in the Sunset lounge in the clubhouse. To complete a magical day you may spot whales or dolphins at play.

Our take
Half the round at Milnerton runs out with the Atlantic breeze at your back, then you turn for home into it and find out what you have actually got.
- Serious golfersMake your score going out with the breeze behind you, because the inward nine into the wind is a different course. The 17th, deep in that strong finishing stretch, flips matches at the death.
- Higher handicapsFlat between the sea and the Rietvlei lagoon so the walking is nothing, but seven water holes wait for a wayward shot and the 3rd bites early. A rough start here is normal, keep going.
- Buddy tripsSeaside golf on the edge of Cape Town with a routing made for matchplay, downwind out, into it coming home. Whoever keeps their swing together after the turn usually takes the money.

What you are actually facing
The walk. Flat, and an easy walk — 15 metres of climb over the round.
The wind. The wind is usually south-easterly, averaging 11 km/h, gusting to 35. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. 3 hazards in play. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
The holes that will cost you. The 17th, the 3rd and the 18th. The 17th is the one you will be talking about afterwards.
