About Erinvale Golf Club
Stay and play at Erinvale Golf course one of the best golf resorts in South Africa. Surrounded by the majestic Helderberg and Hottentots Holland Mountains, it offers two very distinctly different nines. Designed by Gary Player, the first nine winds its way through narrow fairways. The second nine flows beautifully into the foot of the Helderberg Mountain and eventually offers the most rewarding and magnificent sweeping views over False Bay, surrounding vineyards, olive groves and Helderberg Nature Reserve.
The greens at Erinvale are generous and protected by well-placed bunkers and water features. The course is widely considered a golfing gem – that not only tests the best golfers in the world but also provides great enjoyment to amateur golfers of all skill levels.

Our take
Gary Player gave Erinvale two distinct personalities, a tight front nine through narrow fairways and a back nine that climbs to the foot of the Helderberg for the False Bay views.
- Serious golfersTwo courses in one. The front nine is tight and asks for discipline off the tee, then the back nine climbs towards the Helderberg. The 7th and the 16th are where good cards go wrong.
- Higher handicapsThe narrow front nine punishes a wild driver, so swallow your pride and hit something straight, and water waits on plenty of holes. The reward is the back nine and those False Bay views.
- CouplesA scenic round, with the Helderberg and Hottentots Holland mountains all round and the sweep of False Bay opening up as you play the back nine.

The walk. Moderate. 121 metres of climb over the round.
The wind. The wind is usually northerly, averaging 12 km/h, gusting to 39. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. 21 hazards in play. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
