You know how this usually goes. You volunteered to organise the society trip, and now you’re the one chasing 18 deposits, refereeing the rooming list, second-guessing tee-time gaps and wondering why nobody else seems to feel the pressure. It is, frankly, a thankless job — right up until the moment a specialist takes the whole thing off your hands.
That’s what we do. Golf Planet Holidays has been arranging tailor-made golf trips for UK societies since 1981, and the Canary Islands are one of our favourite places to send a group of 12 to 24 players. Year-round sunshine, short flights, a cluster of genuinely good courses, and society trips from £400 per person — with group rates that get sharper the more of you travel, and the organiser very often playing free.
Why the Canaries just work for a society
For a group of 12 to 24, the Canary Islands hit the sweet spot. The weather holds when the UK turns grey, the flights are manageable, and you can base a whole society in one comfortable resort and still rotate across several courses through the week.
On Gran Canaria you’ve got real choice within easy reach. Maspalomas is a proper resort course built for groups, Meloneras brings the drama of holes that run toward the dunes and the Atlantic, Salobre climbs into volcanic terrain for the players who want a sterner test, and the historic Real Las Palmas — one of the oldest clubs in Spain — gives the society something with a bit of pedigree to talk about over dinner. Mix and match across the week and no two rounds feel the same.
Prefer something quieter and more characterful? Tecina on La Gomera tumbles down the hillside with sea views from almost every hole — a course your society will still be describing months later. The variety is the point: one society, one base, several very different golfing days.
Where your society stays
Get the base right and half the organising is done. We match the hotel to the group — somewhere that handles golfers well, copes with a big breakfast before an early tee time, and has a bar that can take 20 of you after the round without blinking.
On Gran Canaria, Kumara Serenoa in Maspalomas puts your society right in the heart of the golf and the resort. For something with a different flavour, Hotel Jardin Tecina on La Gomera pairs cliff-top calm with its own Tecina course, while the Hotel Dreams Jardin Tropical on Tenerife gives the group a polished island base. Whichever we recommend, it’s chosen for your numbers, your budget and the kind of trip your players actually want — not pulled off a generic list.
Where our specialists would stay in Canary Islands
Let us do the thankless part — and play hosted if you like
Here’s the relief: you tell us the dates, the rough budget and how many are coming, and we build the trip around it. Tee times sequenced so the group flows, transfers, rooming, the lot — handled. You go back to being one of the players instead of the unpaid travel agent.
If you’d rather not run a single thing on the ground, ask about our hosted and escorted group options, where someone is there to smooth the logistics so even the organiser can switch off and enjoy it. And because we’re enquiry-based, you get a real person and a written, all-in quote in pounds — never a faceless booking engine.
It all sits on the security you’d want for a group’s money: every trip is ATOL Protected, and your funds are held in trust with PTS until you’ve travelled. So the society’s deposits and balances are safe from the first payment right through to the flight home.

Frequently asked questions
How many players do we need for a society group rate?
Group pricing typically kicks in from around 12 players and improves as your numbers climb toward 24. The bigger the society, the better the per-person rate — and the more likely we can arrange for the organiser to play free. Tell us your headcount and we’ll show you exactly where it lands.
Which Canary Islands courses can you book for us?
Across our Canaries programme we arrange golf at Maspalomas, Meloneras and Salobre on Gran Canaria, the historic Real Las Palmas, and Tecina on La Gomera. For a society we’ll usually plan a rotation so your players get real variety through the week rather than the same course twice.
Can you arrange flights, or is it ground-only?
Our trips are built as tailor-made ground arrangements — hotel, golf and transfers — with flights added on as an ATOL-protected option when you want us to handle them too. For a society travelling together, we can coordinate the flights alongside everything else so the whole group lands ready to play.
What does it cost and how is our money protected?
Canary Islands society trips start from £400 per person, with group rates sharpening as numbers grow and the organiser often playing free. Every booking is ATOL Protected and your money is held in trust with PTS until you’ve travelled, so the society’s funds are secure throughout.
