Keep Your Golf Game in Swing Over the Winter.

Winter has arrived with rain and snow featuring heavily in the UK forecasts. The temperatures are going down and handicaps are going up. How do you keep your golf game ticking over, especially when the pressure is on to keep submitting cards? Here’s how to stay on top of your game.

1. Don’t let your game hibernate. The temptation is to pack your clubs away and revisit them in the Spring. Just 15 minutes of practice a few times a week will see you coming back stronger when the weather improves.

2. Experiment with your game. Winter conditions change how courses play. Try out some different clubs that have lain dormant in your bag or even try a different golf course. You may find some all-weather gems in your area.

3. Update your golf wardrobe. Do your waterproofs still do the job? Time to add items to your Christmas list.

4. Invest in a loyalty card at your local golf range. If you have spent the money you will use the range. The new Trackman screens add an extra bit of interest to your session.

5. Putting mats. Yes, this might annoy other members of your family but set one up at home to have a putt or two. You never know they might be inspired to take up the game you love.

6. Stay fit. Yoga or stretching will keep you limber and injury-free.

7. Golf balls. A brightly coloured ball will be easier to find among the leaves or frost. Softer compressions perform better in the cold. Keep a spare ball in your pocket so it is already warmed up and ready to go.

8. Take a sunshine golf holiday. You can find guaranteed sunshine and superb golf courses just four hours away in the Canary Islands or head to South Africa for the golf holiday of a lifetime.

9. Watch television. Here’s a good excuse to settle down on a winter afternoon. Remind yourself of the great golf competitions over the year and study the best players. They can make mistakes too!

10. New Year’s Resolution. Set yourself some goals for next year for your handicap, practice and even some bucket list golf courses you want to play.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a golf holiday in Canary Islands cost?

Tailor-made golf breaks in Canary Islands start from £165 per person, including your hotel, green fees and airport transfers. Every package is built around your group, dates and handicaps.

Do you arrange flights to Canary Islands?

Flights can be added as an ATOL-protected option, or you book your own and we handle everything on the ground — private transfers, tee times and buggies.

Is my money protected?

Yes. Every booking is financially protected through Protected Trust Services (PTS) — your money is held safely in trust until you have travelled. Flight-inclusive trips are also ATOL protected.

Can I tailor the trip?

Always. We don’t sell off-the-shelf packages — every Canary Islands break is built personally around your group, your preferred courses and your dates.
