ABOUT THE GOLF COURSE
Anfi Tauro is the newest addition to the impressive selection of golf courses on Gran Canaria.
It is an intelligent design by Robert Von Hagge, through the hills behind Tauro and Mogan. Located close to Maspalomas, the course is a clever design, quite tricky with canyons, lakes, the occasional boulder, and the prevailing wind to contend with. Lower handicappers will relish the chance of birdie opportunities but may be in for a shock as the tiger line can have a nasty bite! The clubhouse and academy facilities are very good. Easy walking and a very friendly welcome.

Our take
Anfi Tauro asks the same question on tee after tee: take on the canyon carry or bail out sideways and take your medicine.
- Serious golfersGenuine birdie chances for lower handicappers, but the tiger line over the canyons can end in a shock, exactly as the designers intended. Pick your carries with the prevailing wind in mind.
- Higher handicapsCanyons, lakes and the odd boulder mean forced carries you cannot always avoid, so bring spare balls. The consolation is the walking: for a course cut through the hills behind Tauro, it is surprisingly flat going.
- Buddy tripsBuilt for match play. Risk and reward on nearly every hole means the game swings all day, and Maspalomas is close by for the evening.

The wind. The wind is usually southerly, averaging 10 km/h, gusting to 42. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
