Golf Holidays for Couples in Canary Islands
Canary Islands By The Golf Planet Holidays Team · Golf-travel specialists since 1981 · Published 1 June 2026 At a glance Is the Canary Islands good for a couple where only one of us plays golf? Yes — it is arguably the ideal couples’ golf destination for exactly that reason. The Canaries pair championship courses […]
Some couples want the same week from very different days. One of you is happiest with the first tee booked and a card in hand; the other is dreaming of a slow morning, a spa appointment and a long lunch with a view. The Canary Islands is where those two holidays become one — sunshine when the UK is grey, year-round golf, and resorts where the course and the spa share the same terrace. You play, your partner unwinds, and you meet in the middle for the part that matters.
Since 1981 Golf Planet Holidays has built exactly these trips by hand for British golfing couples, one itinerary at a time. From £400 per person, fully ATOL Protected, billed in pounds — and effortless, because the planning is ours and the time off is yours.
Golf for one, paradise for both
The genius of the Canaries for couples is geography: the great courses and the great spas are minutes apart, so neither of you compromises. The golfer in Gran Canaria has a genuine embarrassment of riches — Maspalomas, the mature parkland classic with its famous dunes; Meloneras, hugging the Atlantic with sea views from nearly every hole; the dramatic, lava-framed fairways of Salobre; and the heritage of Real Las Palmas, one of the oldest courses in Spain. Each is a proper morning’s golf, leaving the rest of the day free.
Meanwhile your partner is doing precisely as they please — a treatment, the beach, the pool, or a leisurely wander through Maspalomas before the two of you reconvene for sundowners. Nobody is waiting around; nobody is bored. That balance is the whole point.
Three bases built for two
Where you stay shapes the whole trip, so we match the hotel to how you like to travel. Kumara Serenoa in Maspalomas puts you at the heart of Gran Canaria’s golf, with Maspalomas, Meloneras and Salobre all within easy reach — ideal if the golfer wants variety and the partner wants polish and warm-weather calm.
For something quieter and more romantic, Hotel Jardin Tecina on La Gomera is a green, terraced retreat above the Atlantic with its own clifftop course, Tecina Golf — wonderfully unhurried, the kind of place where days blur pleasantly together. And on Tenerife, Hotel Dreams Jardin Tropical brings beach, spa and a touch of glamour to a couple who want their evenings to feel as special as their mornings.
Where our specialists would stay in Canary Islands
Effortless, protected, and yours in plain pounds
Tailor-made should feel easy, not expensive-by-default. You tell us your dates, who plays and how often, and we build the itinerary around the two of you — tee times, transfers and the right hotel, priced in GBP so there are no surprises. Every holiday is ATOL Protected, and your money is held in trust with PTS until you have travelled, so it is genuinely safeguarded from the moment you book to the day you fly home.
We arrange flights as an add-on when it suits you, or you keep your own — handy if you are watching value or travelling on points. And if you would rather not organise it solo, ask us about our hosted and escorted group tours, where the logistics are handled for you and the golf comes with good company. Either way, the planning is on us. Tell us your week, and we will make both of yours.

Frequently asked questions
Can we travel if only one of us plays golf?
Absolutely — that is the most common couples’ booking we make. We arrange the rounds for the golfer at courses like Maspalomas, Meloneras, Salobre or Tecina, and build the rest of the trip around spa, beach, dining and downtime for the non-golfer. You get a single, seamless holiday that works for both of you.
When is the best time of year to go?
The Canaries are a true year-round golf destination, with warm, reliable weather even in the depths of the UK winter. That makes them perfect for an off-season romantic escape, though they are lovely in spring and autumn too. Tell us your preferred dates and we will tailor the itinerary to them.
Is my money protected, and how do I pay?
Yes. Your holiday is ATOL Protected, and your money is held in trust with PTS until you have travelled, so it is fully safeguarded throughout. You are billed in GBP, with the price built precisely around the trip you choose — from £400 per person.
Do you arrange flights, or can we travel as a group?
We can add flights to your itinerary as an option, or you are welcome to book your own if that works better for value or air miles. We also run hosted and escorted group tours if you would like the logistics handled and the golf shared with like-minded company — just ask when you enquire.
