A solo golf holiday in the Canary Islands gives you the freedom to set your own pace, the courses you want, in the order you want, with no one else’s schedule to keep. Picture year-round sunshine, fairways edged by Atlantic blue, and a relaxed handshake on the first tee with people who love the game as much as you do. From
Golf Planet Holidays has been arranging tailor-made golf trips since 1981, and solo travellers are some of our happiest customers. We know the islands where single golfers are made welcome, the hotels that feel relaxed rather than isolating, and how to build a week that’s as social or as peaceful as you like. You travel alone, and you play the trip your way.
Why the Canary Islands suit the solo golfer
Few destinations make a solo golf trip feel as easy as the Canaries. The weather is reliable all year, the flights from the UK are short, and the golf is concentrated enough that you can play a different course most mornings without long drives between them. For anyone travelling alone, the resort courses here are relaxed and welcoming, and a single golfer rarely feels out of place. If you fancy company, most courses are happy to pair a single player with others on the day; if you’d rather the quiet, a calmer morning can mean a round to yourself. That part is the course’s call on the day rather than something we arrange.
In Gran Canaria alone you have Maspalomas with its links-like dunes, the dramatic Meloneras hugging the coastline, the twin championship layouts at Salobre, and the historic Real Las Palmas, the oldest club in Spain. Over on La Gomera, the cliff-edge Tecina course delivers ocean views from almost every hole. That’s a week of genuinely varied, memorable golf, all within easy reach, and all easy to play as a solo traveller.
Where you'll stay, relaxed bases for single travellers
The right hotel makes all the difference when you’re on your own. We steer solo golfers toward resorts with a friendly, relaxed feel and easy access to the first tee.
Kumara Serenoa, Maspalomas is our go-to for Gran Canaria, comfortable, well-placed for the Maspalomas, Meloneras, Salobre and Real Las Palmas courses, and surrounded by other golfers doing exactly what you’re doing. Hotel Jardin Tecina, La Gomera is a more intimate, garden-set retreat perched above the Atlantic, with the Tecina course on its doorstep, ideal if you want calm and quiet between rounds. And Hotel Dreams Jardin Tropical, Tenerife gives you a buzzier island base with a real holiday atmosphere. Whichever you choose, we’ll have it arranged, paid and confirmed before you leave home.

Travel alone, play at your own pace
The pleasure of going alone is that the week is entirely yours: your courses, your tee times, your pace. We take all the arranging off your plate, so you simply turn up and play. There’s company on the course when you want it, since most clubs are happy to pair a single golfer with others on the day, and a quieter round when you don’t, on the mornings the tee sheet is light. That part is the course’s call on the day rather than something we arrange.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a solo golf holiday in the Canary Islands cost?
Our tailor-made Canary Islands golf holidays start from
Will I have to pay a single supplement?
Solo travellers often worry about single-room supplements. We arrange your room and your golf to suit you and will always be upfront about any single-occupancy costs in your quote, so there are no surprises. We’ll look for the dates and room types that keep the trip relaxed and good value.
Is my money protected when I book a solo golf trip?
Yes. Golf Planet Holidays is ATOL Protected, and your money is held in trust with PTS until you have travelled. That means the funds for your holiday are ring-fenced and secure from the moment you pay, giving you complete peace of mind whether you’re booking flights with us or arranging the ground package only.
Which Canary Islands courses can I play, and will I be on my own?
All of them in our collection. In Gran Canaria you can play Maspalomas, Meloneras, Salobre and Real Las Palmas, and on La Gomera you have the spectacular clifftop Tecina course. Most courses are happy to pair a single golfer with others on the day if you’d like company, while a quieter morning can mean a round to yourself. That’s the course’s decision on the day rather than something we arrange.
