Can I play golf in the Canary Islands as a solo golfer and still meet other people? Yes. Resorts like Maspalomas, Meloneras and Salobre in Gran Canaria run busy group tee times, and we book you into them so you’re paired with other golfers rather than playing alone. On our hosted and escorted group tours you join a ready-made party of solo and like-minded travellers from arrival to departure. From £400 per person, every round, transfer and hotel is arranged for you, and your money is held in trust with PTS until you travel.

Where do solo golfers go in the Canaries? Gran Canaria is the natural base — Kumara Serenoa in Maspalomas puts you minutes from the Maspalomas, Meloneras, Salobre and Real Las Palmas courses, with plenty of fellow golfers to play alongside. For something quieter, Hotel Jardin Tecina on La Gomera pairs an intimate clifftop resort with its own Tecina course, while Hotel Dreams Jardin Tropical in Tenerife suits solos who want a livelier island. We match the island and hotel to how sociable — or peaceful — you want your trip to be.

Travelling on your own doesn’t mean playing on your own. A solo golf holiday in the Canary Islands gives you the freedom to set your own pace — and the warmth of joining other golfers on the tee whenever you want company. Picture year-round sunshine, fairways edged by Atlantic blue, and a relaxed handshake on the first tee with people who love the game as much as you do. From £400 per person, we put the whole trip together so the only thing you decide each morning is which course to play.

Golf Planet Holidays has been arranging tailor-made golf trips since 1981, and solo travellers are some of our happiest customers. We know the resorts where single golfers slot naturally into group tee times, the hotels that feel sociable rather than isolating, and the hosted tours where you’ll arrive a stranger and leave with a foursome’s worth of new friends. You travel alone — but you’re never on your own.

Why the Canary Islands suit the solo golfer

Few destinations make a solo golf trip feel as easy as the Canaries. The weather is reliable all year, the flights from the UK are short, and the golf is concentrated enough that you can play a different course most mornings without long drives between them. Crucially for anyone travelling alone, the resort courses here run a steady stream of group tee times — so booking a single tee slot rarely means playing on your own. You’ll find yourself in a fourball with fellow visitors more often than not.

In Gran Canaria alone you have Maspalomas with its links-like dunes, the dramatic Meloneras hugging the coastline, the twin championship layouts at Salobre, and the historic Real Las Palmas — the oldest club in Spain. Over on La Gomera, the cliff-edge Tecina course delivers ocean views from almost every hole. That’s a week of genuinely varied, memorable golf, all within easy reach, and all bookable as a solo traveller.

Where you'll stay — sociable bases for single travellers

The right hotel makes all the difference when you’re on your own. We steer solo golfers toward resorts with a friendly, communal feel and easy access to the first tee.

Kumara Serenoa, Maspalomas is our go-to for Gran Canaria — comfortable, well-placed for the Maspalomas, Meloneras, Salobre and Real Las Palmas courses, and surrounded by other golfers doing exactly what you’re doing. Hotel Jardin Tecina, La Gomera is a more intimate, garden-set retreat perched above the Atlantic, with the Tecina course on its doorstep — ideal if you want calm and quiet between rounds. And Hotel Dreams Jardin Tropical, Tenerife gives you a buzzier island base with a real holiday atmosphere. Whichever you choose, we’ll have it arranged, paid and confirmed before you leave home.

Hosted group tours — the easiest way to travel solo

If the idea of arranging your own playing partners feels like hard work, our hosted and escorted group tours take it off your plate entirely. You join a small party of like-minded golfers — many of them travelling solo just like you — with tee times, transfers and dinners organised around the group. There’s company when you want it and freedom when you don’t. It’s the format solo golfers tell us they enjoy most: you arrive on your own and quickly find yourself part of the gang.

Every trip is fully arranged on a tailor-made basis from £400 per person, and as a UK ATOL Protected specialist we hold your money in trust through PTS until the day you travel — so your holiday is financially secure from the moment you book. We bill in pounds, and for travellers joining us from the US the strong dollar can make a Canaries golf week excellent value; flights are an easy ATOL-protected add-on, or you’re welcome to arrange your own and we’ll handle everything on the ground.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a solo golf holiday in the Canary Islands cost?

Our tailor-made Canary Islands golf holidays start from £400 per person, covering your hotel, golf and transfers as an arranged package. Because every trip is built to order, the final price depends on your choice of island, hotel, number of rounds and travel dates — tell us what you’re after and we’ll quote you in GBP. Flights can be added under our ATOL protection, or you can book your own.

Will I have to pay a single supplement?

Solo travellers often worry about single-room supplements. We arrange your room and your golf to suit you and will always be upfront about any single-occupancy costs in your quote, so there are no surprises. On our hosted group tours we also help match travellers where it makes sense, keeping the trip sociable and good value.

Is my money protected when I book a solo golf trip?

Yes. Golf Planet Holidays is ATOL Protected, and your money is held in trust with PTS until you have travelled. That means the funds for your holiday are ring-fenced and secure from the moment you pay, giving you complete peace of mind whether you’re booking flights with us or arranging the ground package only.

Which Canary Islands courses can I play as a single golfer?

All of them in our collection. In Gran Canaria you can play Maspalomas, Meloneras, Salobre and Real Las Palmas, and on La Gomera you have the spectacular clifftop Tecina course. We book you into group tee times so you’re rarely playing alone, and on hosted tours you’ll have ready-made playing partners throughout.
