Two Nicklaus courses, an hour up the coast from Alicante.
Costa Blanca and Murcia golf holidays
Villaitana puts a Nicklaus Design pair on one Benidorm hillside: the long par-72 Levante and the tighter Poniente, both looking out to the Mediterranean and the Sierra de Finestrat. Stay at the Meliá and play warm into December, then carry it on quietly inland to the courses around Murcia.

The Costa Blanca and Murcia stretch down Spain's sun-soaked southeast, where Benidorm's headlands give way to the quieter inland fairways around Cartagena, Alicante and Vera. It is one of the most concentrated golf regions in Europe: a short transfer from the airport puts you within reach of resort giants like La Manga Club and a cluster of well-kept Murcia courses, with proper Spanish towns, beaches and tapas bars never far away. It rewards the golfer who wants volume and variety without long drives between rounds.
We have arranged Costa Blanca and Murcia golf since 1981. Every itinerary is hand-built and hand-priced around your dates, your group and the courses you want to play.
Why play golf in Costa Blanca and Murcia
A genuine density of courses across a small area — Murcia alone gives you Alhama Signature, Hacienda Riquelme, El Valle, La Torre and Altorreal within easy reach of one base
Two flagship resorts, Grand Hyatt La Manga Club near Cartagena and Villaitana above Benidorm, where you sleep and play on the same estate
A real spread of styles, from the resort scale of La Manga Club to the strategic desert-edge feel of Valle del Este at Vera
Short, predictable transfers from Alicante, so you spend the day on the course rather than in the minibus
Shoulder-season climate that suits keen golfers — comfortable spring and autumn rounds without midsummer heat or winter chill
The courses you’ll play
The region's headline act is La Manga Club Golf Courses near Cartagena, the long-established resort estate that gives you a clutch of contrasting layouts in one place — the natural choice if you want to play several rounds without changing base. Inland from Alicante, La Finca Golf Course sits within the Finca Resort and is a generous, well-conditioned test that pairs neatly with Las Ramblas and Golf Villamartin nearby. Further south at Vera, Valle del Este Golf Course runs through dramatic dry hills, a striking change of scenery. Around Murcia city, Alhama Signature, Hacienda Riquelme, El Valle, La Torre and Altorreal form a tight, playable cluster ideal for a multi-round trip.
Where you’ll stay
For an all-on-site stay, the Grand Hyatt La Manga Club and Resort at Cartagena and the Melia Villaitana at Benidorm (within Villaitana Resort Golf) let you wake up beside the fairways. Coastal Alicante is well served by La Finca Resort, with its own course on the doorstep, while Hotel Valle del Este at Vera anchors the southern golf scenery. In Murcia city, the Occidental 7 Coronas and Tryp Rincon de Pepe put you among the tapas bars and cathedral squares, an easy hop to the inland courses. To the north, the Parador El Saler sits in pine and dune just outside Valencia. We match the base to your group and your golf.
Best time to play golf in Costa Blanca and Murcia
Spring and autumn are the sweet spot here. March to May and late September into November give warm, settled days, firm fairways and the most comfortable conditions for back-to-back rounds. Summer is hot and bright — playable, but better suited to early tee times and afternoons by the pool. Winters are mild rather than tropical: pleasant, much quieter and good value, though this is not a guaranteed winter-sun destination in the way the Canaries or Morocco are. If you want the ideal balance of weather, course condition and atmosphere, build the trip around April–May or October.
A sense of Costa Blanca and Murcia
History & heritage
This is unmistakably Spanish, not just a golf strip. Murcia city wears its history lightly — a Baroque cathedral, student-filled plazas and an unhurried southern rhythm — while the Tryp Rincon de Pepe sits in the heart of the old quarter. Cartagena, near La Manga, layers Roman, Carthaginian and naval history along a working Mediterranean harbour. Up the coast, Valencia adds a grand old town, the City of Arts and Sciences, and the green calm of the Albufera around the Parador El Saler. Even Benidorm, for all its modern skyline, sits on an old fishing town. The golf is the reason to come; the region is the reason to linger.
Food & wine
The southeast is one of Spain's great larders. Murcia is market-garden country — the produce on the plate was likely grown down the road — and the region is famous for rice dishes, grilled vegetables, salted fish and the seafood rice traditions shared with neighbouring Valencia. In Murcia city, the bars around the Occidental 7 Coronas and Tryp Rincon de Pepe are made for tapas-crawling: small plates, cold local wine, easy hours. Along the coast you will find paella as it should be, fresh catch and Jumilla and Yecla reds inland. After a round at La Manga or La Finca, long Spanish dinners are part of the appeal.
Beyond the fairways
There is plenty for non-golfers and rest days. The coast offers proper beaches, marinas and the warm, calm waters of the Mar Menor lagoon near La Manga. Cartagena rewards a day's wandering for its Roman theatre and harbour; Valencia, north of the Parador El Saler, is a full city break in itself. Benidorm has its headlands and family attractions, while inland Murcia delivers traditional towns and quiet countryside. Spa afternoons, boat trips and seafront lunches all slot easily around the golf, which makes the region a strong choice for mixed groups where not everyone plays.
Getting around & exploring
Distances are short and the road network is good, so a hire car is the simplest way to link courses and towns — particularly if you want to roam between the Murcia cluster, the Alicante courses and Valle del Este at Vera. For a single-base resort stay at La Manga Club or Villaitana, you may not need a car at all, with golf, dining and pool on site. We arrange private transfers for arrivals, departures and tee times where that suits the group better, and can tailor the mix of car and transfers to how you want to play.
Getting there
The region's main gateway is Alicante–Elche airport, with Murcia (Corvera) and Valencia also serving the area, all within comfortable transfer distance of the courses and resorts. Flights are not included in our packages: we arrange your golf, accommodation and transfers as a ground-only itinerary, and can add flights as a separate ATOL-protected booking if you would like us to handle them. Many guests prefer to book their own flights to fit their departure airport and dates, then leave the rest to us. Either way, we build the trip around your travel plans.
Good to know
We are a tailor-made operator, not a package conveyor belt — your trip is hand-built and hand-priced around your dates, group and chosen courses
Ground-only by design: golf, hotels and transfers are arranged by us; flights are a separate ATOL-protected add-on, never bundled in
We are not ABTA members; our trade credentials are ATOL (flights only), PTS and IATA
Spring and autumn book up first — secure tee times early if you want La Manga or La Finca at peak
Tell us how much you want to drive: single-resort stays at La Manga Club or Villaitana need little or no car, while a multi-course Murcia trip is easier with one
We have known these courses and resorts for decades and hand-pick the base, the tee times and the transfers to fit your group
