4.997 reviewsIf you are going to play golf, there's nothing better than playing in the sunshine so my wife and I had an item on our bucket list to take a month driving around the Iberian peninsula playing golf, staying at good hotels and eating well! …
We recently used Golf planet Holidays for our annual golf trip to Spain, I can honestly say that the service provided was second to none, an absolutely first class experience.. well done the team at Golf planet holidays..
About Villaitana Golf (Levante & Poniente Courses)
Villaitana Golf comprises two Nicklaus Design 18-hole courses set on the Costa Blanca hills above Benidorm, offering panoramic Mediterranean views throughout. The championship Levante course is a par-72 layout measuring 6,576 metres with 106 bunkers and an American-style character — wide fairways, elevated greens, and generous water features. The shorter Poniente course plays as a par-62 of 3,858 metres, with no par-5 holes, making it an excellent warm-up or alternative round. Together the two courses provide over 5,000 metres of combined playing variety for resort guests of all abilities.
Our take
Benidorm is not the obvious address for Nicklaus golf, which makes the Levante up in these hills a pleasant shock.
- Serious golfersThe Levante's 106 bunkers and elevated greens punish anything half struck, and water crosses your eyeline all day. The 8th and the 11th are the two that dominate the clubhouse conversation afterwards.
- Higher handicapsFairways are generous but there is close to 120 metres of climb across the round, so a buggy earns its keep. The par 62 Poniente, with no par 5s at all, is a far friendlier opener.
- Buddy tripsTwo courses above a town built for the evening afterwards. Warm up on the Poniente, settle the money match on the Levante, then argue about both in Benidorm that night.

What you are actually facing
The walk. Moderate. 118 metres of climb over the round.
The wind. The wind is usually south-westerly, averaging 8 km/h, gusting to 30. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. 24 hazards in play. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
The design. Nicklaus Design (Jack Nicklaus).
The holes that will cost you. The 8th, the 11th and the 16th. The 16th is the one you will be talking about afterwards.
