The Par 72 Saadiyat Beach Golf Club in Abu Dhabi is a Gary Player design. This impressive course was the Arabian Gulf's first beachfront golf course with views over the ocean. Three saltwater lakes and restored beach and sand dunes are among the hazards on the undulating fairways. Watch out for the dolphins at play.
Our take
Gary Player built the Gulf's first beachfront course here, working restored dunes and saltwater lakes into a shoreline where dolphins still turn up mid-round.
- Serious golfersTrouble arrives early; the 2nd and the 9th ruin more cards than anything after the turn. Barely 30 metres of climb all round means the dunes and lakes do the defending, not your legs.
- CouplesOcean views from an easy, flat walk, an impressive clubhouse for the long lunch afterwards, and a genuine chance of spotting dolphins between shots. Few rounds are this easy to share.
- Buddy tripsSlots naturally into an Abu Dhabi rotation alongside Yas Links and Abu Dhabi Golf Club. Play it fresh rather than jet-lagged, because the 2nd will punish a group still half asleep.
