Penha Longa golf course is a Trent Jones classic and deservedly rated among Europe’s best. The encouraging fairways let you have a go with the driver but to score well you must make sure you hit to the correct part of the fairway as the greens are very well protected. Ancient monuments, gorgeous countryside and waterfalls combine to make this a visual, as well as a playing, treat. Past host to several PGA tournaments. There is also a Par 35,  that allows the less accomplished player a game in similarly pleasing surroundings. Fairly hilly. Eight miles north-east of Cascais and 30 minutes from Lisbon.
