Oitavos Dunes is the premier golf course in Portugal. Golf Magazine ranks it at No 55 in the world.
The outlandish and stunning clubhouse sets the tone for this sensational golf course. This is where a great design meets with a great respect for nature. Oitavos Dunes is only the second golf course in the world to be recognised as a Signature Sanctuary.
Gently rolling through an umbrella pine forest, great expanses of scrubland and more open "links", you'll be surprised by how few bunkers there are but the trees and the rough provide plenty of obstacles. Easy walking. One mile west of Cascais.

If you only play one course on the Lisbon coast, play this one: Golf Magazine ranks it 55 in the world and the Atlantic wind makes sure the ranking is deserved.
- Serious golfersPortugal's premier course, and the wind is its real defence. It blows most days on this stretch of coast, so flight the ball low through the pines and scrub and treat par as a good score.
- Higher handicapsThe walk is flat and easy, but the sea wind rarely rests and the scrubland swallows anything loose. Play from the forward tees and count it as an experience rather than a scoring round.
- Buddy tripsWorth building the whole trip around. Lisbon and the coast are on the doorstep for the evenings, and the course itself gives the group something to argue about for years afterwards.
