About Praia D’El Rey Golf Course
Set amid pine trees and beachside dunes and cliffs, Praia d'El Rey is a stunning golf club. Several holes run alongside the beach and there's some inland water too. It all sounds a bit daunting but the design warms you up nicely before it really gets spectacular.

Our take
When the Atlantic breeze picks up, Praia d'El Rey shifts from a gentle warm-up into a proper seaside examination.
- Serious golfersThe beachside stretch in a stiff sea breeze is the test that defines the round. Take an extra club, flight the ball down, and accept that any green missed on the short side is your own fault.
- Higher handicapsThe design warms you up kindly, but once you turn along the beach the wind will find every weakness in the swing. Swallow your pride, club up, and aim away from the cliffs.
- Buddy tripsStay on site at the resort and you have West Cliffs, Royal Obidos, Bom Sucesso and Quinta da Marinha all within reach, which makes this the natural base for a serious few days on the Lisbon coast.
- Non-golfersThe beach side of the resort is the real thing, with the sand right below the course and Obidos close by, so nobody is left watching from the clubhouse terrace.
