Jumeirah Golf Estates is home to two outstanding courses, The Earth Course and The Fire Course. The Earth course hosts the DP World Tour Championship Dubai, the culmination of The Race to Dubai and European Tour season. This is a highly defined, sculptured golf course, inspired by the great parkland layouts of Europe and North America. Each hole looks different from every tee option but is equally intimidating as you stare down the undulating fairways at the enormous bunkers. The Fire course is a Greg Norman design. The Fire course aims to reflect the natural desert landscape through its choice of native flora and fauna. Bunkers have been strategically placed on the immaculate fairways, so every shot towards the green requires great concentration. As you near the green, beware that aiming towards the flag isn't always the safest option.

Our take
Home of the DP World Tour Championship, Jumeirah Golf Estates gives you 36 Greg Norman holes and the chance to take on the course that settles the Tour season.
- Serious golfersThe Earth course decides the Race to Dubai, and its 2nd and 18th will decide your match too; the closing hole in particular has ended better cards than yours.
- Higher handicapsNorman built every hole to intimidate from the tee, and water threatens all over both courses. Pack spare balls, play for bogey without embarrassment, and enjoy walking fairways off the telly.
- Buddy tripsThirty-six holes on one site sets up a proper two-day head-to-head: Earth one day, Fire the next, flat walking throughout, and the sculptured Earth 18th to finish the argument.
Tell us who’s coming and how you like to play, and we’ll shape the right trip around you.
What you are actually facing
The walk. Flat, and an easy walk — 60 metres of climb over the round.
The wind. The wind is usually north-westerly, averaging 13 km/h, gusting to 38. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. 16 hazards in play. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
The design. Greg Norman.
The holes that will cost you. The 18th, the 2nd and the 7th. The 18th is the one you will be talking about afterwards.
