About Iles Borromees Golf Club
Iles Borromees is a super golf course carved from a forest and with lake and mountain views. Less than a mile from Lake Maggiore, it’s a day for great golf and photo opportunities. On a clear day fFrom the 18th tee you can see Lake Maggiore, Lake Varese, Lake Monate and Lake Comabbio.
Slightly hilly, you need to drive well at Iles Borromees as the fairways are not too generous for the big hitters so play for position and keep an eye on the yardage chart. A cunning stream comes into play on nearly half the holes. Play early or after lunch as the clubhouse fare is good.

Our take
Carved from forest near Lake Maggiore, this is tight parkland golf where the straight drive matters far more than the long one.
- Serious golfersFairways cut through forest are never generous, so this becomes a driving examination. Keep the yardage chart handy, trust your straight club off the tee, and the par 72 is very gettable in the calm air.
- Higher handicapsThere is not a single water hazard out here and hardly any wind to speak of, so lost balls come from the trees alone. Aim for position rather than distance and the course treats you kindly.
- CouplesSave something for the 18th tee. On a clear day you can pick out four lakes from up there, Maggiore among them, which is a fair reward for a morning in the trees.
