Organising a society trip is, let’s be honest, a thankless job. You’re the one chasing deposits, juggling rooming lists, second-guessing tee times across a dozen inboxes and quietly hoping the weather holds. The reward for getting it right is that nobody notices; the reward for getting it wrong is that everybody does. That’s exactly the bit a specialist takes off your hands.
Golf Planet Holidays has been arranging tailor-made golf travel for UK societies since 1981. We put the group rates, the tee-time blocks and the transfers together so you and your 12 to 24 players turn up, play, and enjoy the trip you actually planned it to be. Italy, from £350 per person, is one of the most rewarding places to do it.
Why Italy works for a society of 12-24
Italy gives a society something rare: serious golf wrapped in a holiday everyone enjoys, including the player who only half-cares about their handicap. The courses are genuinely good, the food and wine carry the evenings, and the resorts are built to host a group rather than squeeze one in.
For a party of 12 to 24 that scale matters. Larger groups unlock the best group rates, simplify tee-time blocks into clean four-balls, and make resort-stay deals work harder. It’s also why the organiser so often plays free on qualifying group sizes — the numbers you bring do the work, and we make sure that value lands with the person doing the organising rather than disappearing into the booking.
The Italian venues and courses we build trips around
We don’t deal in invented itineraries. Our Italian society trips are built on resorts and courses we know and use:
- Verdura Golf & Spa Resort, Sicily — a coastal resort with championship golf and the space a big group needs to spread out, dine together and unwind.
- Picciolo Etna Golf Resort & Spa — golf in the shadow of Etna, paired with the characterful Il Picciolo Etna course for a Sicily trip with a real sense of place.
- La Bagnaia Golf & Spa Resort, Siena — Tuscan countryside, a resort base, and easy reach of the region’s classic touring routes.
Beyond the resorts, your golf can take in standout courses across the country: Verdura in Sicily, San Domenico in Puglia, Acaya Golf Club, and Is Molas in Sardinia. We’ll shape the rounds around where you stay and how much golf the group actually wants to play.
Where our specialists would stay in Italy
Hosted options, and the admin we take off your plate
Some societies want to run everything themselves with us handling the bookings behind the scenes; others would rather have a host on the ground. Both work. Where it suits the group, hosted and escorted arrangements mean someone is there to manage tee times, transfers and the day-to-day so the organiser gets to be a player for once.
Either way, the heavy lifting sits with us: group rates negotiated, accommodation and tee-time blocks secured, airport and course transfers arranged, and a single point of contact instead of a dozen threads. You tell us the dates, the numbers and the standard of golf you’re after, and we build the quote around it.
Booked safely, billed in pounds
Every trip is priced and billed in GBP, so there are no currency surprises when you’re collecting from members. Your holiday is ATOL Protected where flights are included, and your money is held in trust with PTS until you’ve travelled — not spent before you’ve set foot on the course. That protection is the quiet difference between a society trip you’re confident to put your name to and one you’re hoping turns out fine.
Trips start from £350 per person, ground-only and tailor-made; flights to Italy can be added as an ATOL-protected option when you want us to arrange them. Send us your rough dates and group size and we’ll come back with a properly costed plan for your society.

Thanks to Simon for arranging our recent golf holiday to Italy. He was extremely knowledgable and efficient and a pleasure to deal with. Will definitely use this company again.
Frequently asked questions
How many players do we need to count as a society group?
Our society trips are built for groups of around 12 to 24 players, which is the sweet spot for the best group rates and clean four-ball tee times. Larger sizes also tend to be where the organiser plays free on qualifying bookings. If your number sits a little above or below, tell us and we’ll advise on the best structure for your party.
Does the organiser really play free?
On qualifying group sizes, yes — the organiser often plays free. The exact threshold depends on the resort, the dates and the number of rounds, so we’ll confirm it clearly in your quote rather than leave it as a vague promise. It’s our way of making sure the person doing the work gets rewarded for it.
Can you arrange flights, or is it golf and hotel only?
Trips are quoted ground-only from £350 per person — golf, accommodation and transfers — billed in GBP. Flights to Italy can be added as an ATOL-protected option when you’d like us to handle them, which also keeps your holiday financially protected. Many societies prefer this flexibility so members travelling from different parts of the UK can sort their own routes if they wish.
Is our money safe if something goes wrong before we travel?
Yes. Golf Planet Holidays holds your money in trust with PTS until your group has travelled, and your holiday is ATOL Protected when flights are included. Collecting deposits and balances from a society is far easier when you can tell members their money is genuinely safeguarded rather than spent in advance.
