About Acaya Golf Club
Acaya is one of the best golf courses in Italy with Italian sunshine warming the coastal links. There are some birdies for longer hitters but the greens are small and the real winners will be the players who think off the tee. The wildlife and flora and fauna provide a gorgeous backdrop. Make your score on the front nine as the back nine has a decent amount of water – none of it placed unfairly.

Our take
Make your score early at Acaya, because the water arrives on the back nine and the small greens never give you a rest.
- Serious golfersSmall greens put a premium on your iron play, and the back nine asks for honest decisions over the water. There are birdies out there for long hitters, but the thinkers usually come home with the better card.
- Higher handicapsNothing unfair here. The ground is flat, the water is visible and honestly placed, and the steady coastal breeze is the main thing to manage. Score on the front nine while it is quieter.
- CouplesThe resort and spa sit right beside the course, so one of you can play while the other does not have to. Flat, gentle walking if you both go out together.

What you are actually facing
The wind. The wind is usually northerly, averaging 15 km/h, gusting to 42. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. 4 hazards in play. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
The design. David Mezzacane (1996); remodelled by Hurdzan/Fry Design (2007).
