Costa Navarino, Greece By The Golf Planet Holidays Team · Golf-travel specialists since 1981 · Updated 12 June 2026 There is a particular kind of holiday argument that golf causes. One of you wants the Dunes course at first light, the other wants a sun lounger, a spa and somewhere proper for dinner. Costa Navarino, […]
One golfer, one non-golfer, one resort that suits you both
Costa Navarino solves a problem most golf resorts only manage. The whole place was built on the idea that one half of a couple plays and the other half holidays, so the two five-star hotels, the spa, the beach and the golf all share the same stretch of Messinian coast. Nobody is stranded in a hotel that only makes sense if you carry clubs. Prices start from
The geography does the work. The golfer walks out to the first tee. The non-golfer walks out to the pool, the Anazoe spa or the sand. Lunch reunites you. By the second day the trip stops feeling like a compromise and starts feeling like two good holidays sharing one bill.

Costa Navarino golf: the Dunes, the Bay and the Hills
The golf is why Costa Navarino keeps appearing on lists of the best golf resorts in Europe. The Dunes course, a Bernhard Langer design, runs through olive groves and old dune land beside the Ionian, with a run of holes where the sea sits just past the fairway and the late afternoon light turns everything copper. It is the round the golfer will still be describing on the way home. The Bay Course, by Robert Trent Jones Jr, is shorter and friendlier, looping along the shoreline of Navarino Bay past pine and rock, and it makes a fine second round on tired legs.
Then there is The Hills course, a short drive up from the coast, cut along a ridge with long views back over the bay. Three courses total. A three-night trip with two rounds covers the Dunes and the Bay comfortably; add a night and the golfer can play all three without eating into anyone’s beach day.
For hole-by-hole detail, our guide Costa Navarino, Greece’s ultimate golf escape covers all three courses properly.

Golf and spa in Greece: what the other half of the trip looks like
This is where Costa Navarino earns the second half of the booking, and where a golf and spa holiday in Greece stops being a golfer’s trip with a guest attached. The Anazoe spa is built around oleotherapy, treatments based on local olive oil and herbs, and it is large enough that a whole morning disappears in it without anyone checking a watch. Beyond the resort gate, Messinia is quietly one of the best corners of Greece. Voidokilia beach, a near-perfect horseshoe of pale sand ten minutes up the coast, is the photograph everyone takes home. Methoni castle, half an hour south, is a Venetian fortress with its Bourtzi tower standing on an islet at the end of a stone causeway. Gialova lagoon draws flamingos in the cooler months. Pylos has a proper harbour square for a slow coffee.
Then the food. Grilled octopus, talagani cheese, Kalamata olives from the next valley, and house wine that costs less than a London pint. Lunch runs long. Nobody minds.

Where to stay: the Westin or The Romanos
Both hotels sit within the same Navarino Dunes estate and share the courses, the spa and the beach, so the choice is about pace and price rather than location.
| Venue | From (pp) | Nights and rounds | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Westin Resort Costa Navarino | 3 nights B&B, 2 rounds | The lower fare into the same estate, livelier pools, more families around in school holidays | |
| The Romanos, Costa Navarino | 3 nights B&B, 2 rounds | The flagship, with quieter pools and a calmer pace; the one we recommend for couples |
If the budget stretches, take The Romanos. It is the calmer of the two and the extra outlay buys the version of Costa Navarino that couples come for. The Westin is the smarter pick when price is leading the decision, and you can stroll between the two for dinner anyway. Both run packages from three nights with two rounds up to seven nights with five, so the trip scales with however much golf the relationship can absorb. Choose your pace.

When to go: the honest months for Costa Navarino holidays
Timing matters more here than the brochures admit. The sweet spots for Costa Navarino golf are February to May and September to November. Spring brings wildflowers through the olive groves and temperatures in the high teens and twenties; autumn brings a warm sea and quiet tee sheets. February works here. While most UK courses are sitting under frost sheets or temporary greens, the Dunes is open and dry, playing its full length.
July and August are a different trip, and this is the honest note. The beach half is glorious. The golf half is hard work, with afternoon temperatures regularly past 30°C and the only comfortable tee times at dawn. If summer is the window the school calendar allows, book the earliest slots and give the golfer the afternoon off; otherwise aim either side of it. Shoulder-season pricing tends to be kinder too.

Planning Greece golf holidays for couples in 2027
Costa Navarino books differently from a Costa del Sol week. We are already putting 2027 trips together, and spring dates are the ones couples ask about first, usually around an anniversary or a significant birthday. If 2027 is on your horizon, this is a sensible time to start the conversation. Start with dates. The rest follows.
We have been arranging golf travel since 1981 and hold a 4.9 rating from 98 Google reviews. Every enquiry goes to one named specialist who replies personally, builds the trip around how much golf you actually want, and quotes flights separately as an ATOL add-on (Kalamata airport is about 45 minutes from the resort, Athens around three hours by road). Prices are per person sharing, which works neatly when you are travelling as a pair anyway.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a Costa Navarino golf holiday cost?
Real bookable packages start from
Is Costa Navarino good for a non-golfing partner?
Yes, arguably better than anywhere else in Greece with serious golf attached. The Anazoe spa, the pools and the resort beach are on site, with Voidokilia beach, Methoni castle, Gialova lagoon and the Pylos harbourfront all within about half an hour.
Which Costa Navarino course should I play if I only play one round?
The Dunes. It is the original Bernhard Langer design beside the Ionian and the round people travel for. The Bay Course makes the friendlier second round, and The Hills course rewards a longer stay.
When is the best time of year for golf at Costa Navarino?
February to May and September to November. Summer afternoons regularly pass 30°C, which is fine on the beach and hard going over 18 holes, so July and August suit the non-golfer better than the golfer.
How do I get to Costa Navarino from the UK?
Kalamata airport is about 45 minutes from the resort, with seasonal flights from the UK; Athens is around three hours by road. We quote flights separately as an ATOL add-on, alongside transfers and the ground package.
