About Vila Sol Golf Course near Vilamoura
The original 18 holes at Vila Sol were designed by Donald Steel back in 1991 and a further nine were added. Any mix of the three loops offers a fair round and if you can avoid the pine, cork and almond trees as well as the water hazards (!) a good score is on the cards. Easy walking. The clubhouse has a very pleasant patio and bar area. Three miles east of Vilamoura.

Our take
Three loops of nine among pine, cork and almond trees, flat underfoot and fair enough that a good score is on the cards if you drive it straight.
- SocietiesThree nines mean the fixture list sorts itself, and any combination plays fair. Flat, easy walking, three miles east of Vilamoura, and the clubhouse patio is one of the nicer spots in the Algarve for the post-round debrief.
- Serious golfersThe pine, cork and almond trees do all the defending, so this is a driving test more than a putting one. Keep it out of the timber and Steel's layout has nothing hidden waiting to catch you out.
- Higher handicapsFair rather than fearsome, with no climb worth mentioning, though a persistent slice will spend the day rattling around in the pines. Take the safe line off the tee and it will not embarrass you.
