ABOUT THE GOLF COURSE
Seignosse Golf Club is a Robert von Hagge creation. His successes in France include Les Bordes, Kempferhof, Golf National and Royal Mougins. We can safely add Seignosse to that list.
Seignosse is about 45 minutes north of Biarritz and behind the coastline so the wind is not your enemy today.
At 6300 yards off the whites, Seignosse is not long by modern standards. But it doesn’t need to be as there are hazards galore as you weave among the cork trees and strive to avoid the water. Cunning rather than strength is needed here.
Experienced players will carefully plot their way around and realise that the par fives are designed as three-shotters for everyone and the par fours are about placing your tee-shot. And then the fun begins, as the greens have two or three tiers and are usually very quick.
