What golfers say about Spain
4.997 reviewsIf you are going to play golf, there's nothing better than playing in the sunshine so my wife and I had an item on our bucket list to take a month driving around the Iberian peninsula playing golf, staying at good hotels and eating well! …
We recently used Golf planet Holidays for our annual golf trip to Spain, I can honestly say that the service provided was second to none, an absolutely first class experience.. well done the team at Golf planet holidays..
About La Cala – Campo Europa Golf Course
Campo Europa golf course is the latest addition at the La Cala golf resort. It it less challenging than the other two courses, but equally enjoyable. The fairways are wider and greens more generous but the Ojen river does come into play on eight of the holes. A lot of care and attention went towards the plant life and no trees were removed so, despite its youth, Campo Europa provides a decidedly natural feel.

Our take
Of La Cala's three courses, Europa is the one to start on, wider off the tee and kinder on the greens, though the Ojen river touches eight holes and there is more climb out there than you might expect.
- Higher handicapsStart your La Cala golf here. The fairways forgive a loose drive and the greens accept a running approach, but respect the Ojen river; it touches eight holes and swallows more balls than the rough ever will.
- SocietiesThe obvious opener for a mixed ability group, with room off the tee for every standard. Book buggies all the same; it is hillier than its friendly reputation, and the 7th and 15th still catch the confident.
- CouplesEnjoyable rather than punishing, with a genuinely natural feel because no trees were removed to build it. A relaxed buggy round followed by lunch at the resort suits a golfing couple well.

What you are actually facing
The walk. Hilly — we would take a buggy. 212 metres of climb over eighteen holes.
The wind. The wind is usually south-westerly, averaging 9 km/h, gusting to 36. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. 9 hazards in play. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
The design. Cabell B. Robinson.
The holes that will cost you. The 15th, the 7th and the 9th. The 18th is the one you will be talking about afterwards.
