Our take
Short and tight is the honest description of Broadstone, a heathland course from 1898 with heather in view on nearly every hole.
- Serious golfersA Tom Dunn original sharpened by Harry Colt, ranked in the UK Top 100, and at par 70 every shot counts double. Keep it out of the heather and the card looks after itself.
- Higher handicapsThe heather is a visual treat right up until your ball is in it. Budget for a few lost balls and leave the driver in the bag more often than feels natural.
- Buddy tripsSlots neatly into a Dorset run with Ferndown and Isle of Purbeck nearby, and its modest length means a morning round here leaves plenty in the legs for 36.

What you are actually facing
The wind. The wind is usually south-westerly, averaging 13 km/h, gusting to 38. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. 7 hazards in play. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
The design. Tom Dunn, redesigned by Harry Colt.
Terrain and prevailing-weather data, read hole by hole. It is our own assessment of how the course plays, not an official course or slope rating.
