About Abama Golf Course
Abama Golf course on Tenerife is one of the best and most challenging courses in Mediterranean Europe. Some of the approach shots are reminiscent of Augusta. If you don’t make the required level, you’ll watch your ball roll back past you. The course unravels between thousands of palm trees and cacti and offers spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and the island of La Gomera. There are 22 lakes and ponds and these are joined by impressive waterfalls and bunkers. Designed by Dave Thomas, this is a terrific golf course which will certainly keep you coming back for more. GPS guided buggies, water, range balls, club cleaning, locker and personalised buggies are all included in the green fee. There is also a golf Academy and three Par 3 practice holes for clients who take lessons with the Professionals.

Abama asks more of you than any resort course in the Canaries has a right to, with approach shots that roll back off the green if you land them timid.
- Serious golfersThe greens are the examination, land short and the ball rolls back past your feet. The 3rd and the 17th are the two that wreck scorecards, and with 22 lakes and ponds the wet stuff is never far away.
- Higher handicapsBe honest about your ball flight before you book, because timid approaches get sent back down the slope. It is a properly hilly course too, so the buggy is not optional.
- CouplesPalm trees, cacti and the Atlantic views across to La Gomera make the round a pleasure, even on the days the course wins.

What you are actually facing
The walk. Hilly — we would take a buggy. 367 metres of climb over eighteen holes.
The wind. The wind is usually southerly, averaging 8 km/h. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. Water is very much in play across this course. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
