4.997 reviewsIf you are going to play golf, there's nothing better than playing in the sunshine so my wife and I had an item on our bucket list to take a month driving around the Iberian peninsula playing golf, staying at good hotels and eating well! …
We recently used Golf planet Holidays for our annual golf trip to Spain, I can honestly say that the service provided was second to none, an absolutely first class experience.. well done the team at Golf planet holidays..
About Son Antem West & East Golf Courses
Son Antem West is a championship golf course which opened to much acclaim in 2001. It is set in truly spectacular surroundings with the Randa mountain as a backdrop. Narrow fairways surrounded by woods and undulating greens are the order of the day on this challenging layout. Laid into typical Mallorcan countryside wildlife such as hawks, grouse and rabbits is generally all you can see.
It is tougher than the East course due to its narrow fairways and raised greens, and the three lakes which come into play on five holes.
Francisco Lopez Segales designed the Golf Son Antem East course which is built on an old hunting estate. It starts with easier holes building to a challenging finish. The most difficult hole is the 15th par-4 as the second shot calls for an accurate drive over water onto a relatively small green. Generally the fairways are wide and long, but the approaches to the flat and even greens require some accuracy to ensure an enjoyable and fair round. Five lakes come into play throughout the course, which means it can be quite a challenge for low handicappers too!

Our take
Two courses share this quiet corner of Llucmajor and they play like different animals: the West examines you, the East lets you breathe.
- Serious golfersThe West is the one to test yourself on: narrow fairways cut through woodland, undulating greens, and an 18th with a habit of undoing a good card at the last. Drive it straight or spend the day chipping out sideways.
- Higher handicapsStart on the East, which is wider and altogether kinder, before deciding whether the West's tree-lined corridors are worth the bruising. The ground is flat throughout, so at least the legs stay fresh.
- SocietiesThirty six holes on one flat site with the Randa mountain behind, ideal for splitting a group by ability: the low men to the West, everyone else to the East, all back at the same clubhouse.

What you are actually facing
The walk. Flat, and an easy walk — 9 metres of climb over the round.
The wind. The wind is usually north-easterly, averaging 9 km/h, gusting to 39. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. 13 hazards in play. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
The design. Francisco Lopez Segales.
The holes that will cost you. The 18th. The 18th is the one you will be talking about afterwards.
