If you are going to play golf, there's nothing better than playing in the sunshine so my wife and I had an item on our bucket list to take a month driving around the Iberian peninsula playing golf, staying at good hotels and eating well! …
We recently used Golf planet Holidays for our annual golf trip to Spain, I can honestly say that the service provided was second to none, an absolutely first class experience.. well done the team at Golf planet holidays..
About Montecastillo Golf Course
Montecastillo Golf is just a seven-iron from the resort hotel and past host to several European Tour Events. The Jack Nicklaus course covers more than 160 hectares of native flora and fauna and is considered among the Top Ten courses in Spain. Quite hilly so a GPS buggy is worthwhile. Four miles east of Jerez.
A past European Tour venue four miles east of Jerez, Montecastillo is Nicklaus on a grand scale and hilly with it.
Serious golfersTour pedigree is the draw, and it holds up: a Nicklaus design often talked of among Spain's best, with little wind to hide behind and rounds that tend to unravel at the 9th and the 12th.
Higher handicapsTake the buggy without any embarrassment, there is over 170 metres of climbing in a round here. The good news is water only troubles you in a few places, so the slopes are the main opponent.
SocietiesWith the five-star resort a seven iron from the course and Jerez four miles down the road, it is an obvious base for a group, and the Tour history gives the week a bit of occasion.
Tell us who’s coming and how you like to play, and we’ll shape the right trip around you.
The walk. Hilly — we would take a buggy. 171 metres of climb over eighteen holes.
The wind. The wind is usually south-easterly, averaging 9 km/h, gusting to 38. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. 5 hazards in play. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
The design. Jack Nicklaus.
The holes that will cost you. The 9th, the 12th and the 13th. The 9th is the one you will be talking about afterwards.
