About Kempferhof Golf Club
For lovers of the modern and beautiful designs by the Texan Robert von Hagge (think Les Bordes, Seignosse, Emporda, Golf National), Kempferhof is a must. What’s more, there’s a good hotel on site, plenty of other good courses in the region and superb restaurants nearby and the Cathedral city of Strasbourg is 15 minutes to the north.
For those in the know, Kempferhof is a regular haunt. For most golfers, it’s not even on their radar. We urge you to visit as Kempferhof will delight you with its cosmopolitan atmosphere and superb test of golf.
There’s plenty of water and big greens but there’s always a relatively easy route to the greens if you look hard enough. With five sets of tees and flat terrain, you can make Kempferhof a beast or a very pretty walk. Either way, you’ll become a fan of the location and the resort.

Our take
Kempferhof belongs in the same conversation as Les Bordes and Le Golf National, yet most British golfers have never heard of it.
- Serious golfersRobert von Hagge shaped this with the same drama as Les Bordes, and water threatens on most holes. The 3rd asks the first hard question and the 16th asks the last, usually with the match still alive.
- Higher handicapsBarely any climb all day, which is the good news. The bad news is the water, which is everywhere; bring plenty of balls, play from the forward tees and treat bogey as a good score.
- Buddy tripsA decent hotel on site, Strasbourg fifteen minutes away for the evenings and several strong courses within easy reach. As a base for a few days in Alsace it picks itself.

The walk. Flat, and an easy walk — 17 metres of climb over the round.
The wind. The wind is usually southerly, averaging 8 km/h, gusting to 32. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
