Beyond the golf

Life away from the course at Delta Hotels by Marriott St. Pierre Country Club

Quiet countryside estate

St. Pierre sits on its own country club estate on the edge of Mathern, a village 0.8km away, so evenings are gentle rather than lively. Within walking distance you'll find a pub, a restaurant and St. Tewdric's Well, 0.9km from the hotel. A short taxi changes the picture: around a dozen restaurants and more than thirty bars in easy reach, with Caldicot Castle Museum 3.5km away and Fossil Beach at 4.8km. Worth knowing: the wider choice is a taxi ride, not a walk. Tell us who's coming and we'll pick the base that suits your group's evenings.

The wider choice of bars and restaurants is a short taxi ride, not a walk; evenings on the estate itself are quiet.

Delta Hotels by Marriott St. Pierre Country Club: your questions answered

Does the hotel have a golf course on site?

Yes. The St Pierre Old course is on site, so you play and stay in one place. The hotel is an historic manor house set in 400 acres of parkland at Chepstow in South Wales. Green fees are built into our packages, so the golf is already priced in when you enquire.

Is St Pierre worth it for a golf break?

For a short play-and-stay break in South Wales, yes. Golf on site, a manor-house setting, a spa, indoor pool and gym make it an easy two or three days, and non-playing partners have plenty to do. It is less suited to golfers chasing several different courses in one trip, though your specialist can build extra rounds elsewhere around your dates.

How much does a golf break at St Pierre cost?

Packages start at £325 (≈ €375) (≈ $435) (≈ CA$605) (≈ AU$615) (≈ NZ$745) (≈ CHF 345) (≈ kr 4,215) (≈ kr 4,225) (≈ kr 2,855) per person for two nights bed and breakfast with one round of golf. That is the from price, so your exact cost depends on your dates, room and group size. The green fee is included, and a quote for your dates arrives by email, free, with no payment and no obligation.

What is there to do at the hotel besides golf?

A fair amount. The Beauty Rooms Spa runs a range of treatments, there is an indoor pool and a gym, and the Cast Iron Bar and Grill covers dinner without leaving the hotel. Plenty of good restaurants sit nearby if you want a change, and Mathern is under a kilometre away. Rooms have flat-screen TVs and 24 hour room service.

Do I need transfers or a car for this trip?

Not for the golf itself, since the Old course is on the hotel grounds. If you add rounds at other courses, your specialist arranges the transfers between the hotel and each course for you. Just tell us how you plan to travel when you enquire and the itinerary gets built around your dates and route.

Frequently asked questions

Golf holidays in United Kingdom — answers to the questions our golfers ask most.

Where should I play in the United Kingdom?

From challenging links to impressive parkland courses, the UK has it all. Tell us your dream golf holiday scenario.

It is easy to get around the United Kingdom?

Yes, getting around the UK for golf is very straightforward. Self-driving is the most popular choice — the motorway network connects major cities and virtually all golf courses have excellent road access. For Scotland, flights from London to Edinburgh or Glasgow take around 90 minutes, or take the scenic East Coast Main Line overnight. In England, most golf regions — Surrey heathland, Kent links, Yorkshire moorland — are within 2-3 hours of London. We include all transfers in our UK packages and can advise on the best travel approach for your group.

Is the United Kingdom good for groups?

Yes. There are plenty of great options if you are going away with your golfing friends.

What about if I am looking for somewhere special in the United Kingdom?

We offer superb hotels all around the United Kingdom, ideal if you wish to combine high levels of comfort with great golf courses.

Are flights included?

Our golf holidays are arranged ground-only — hotel, golf and transfers. You can add flights through us, and those flights are ATOL protected as part of your booking.

How do golf holidays with Golf Planet Holidays work?

Every trip is hand-built. Tell us your group, dates and the destinations you fancy, and we build a personal itinerary — hotel, golf and transfers — around them. There are no fixed packages to squeeze into; we shape the whole break to suit how your group likes to play.
