What suits you best? Staying right on the golf course or in a town? Here, we weigh up the pros and cons
It’s a nice problem to have, whether to stay within a golf resort or in a nearby town when you are enjoying your Golf Planet Holiday. We’re happy to advise you when you contact us about your holiday but here are a few things to consider.
Getting about
If you are not keen on getting behind the wheel of a hire car, staying on the resort may be ideal for you. Costa Navarino in Greece is perfect. We arrange private airport transfers to the hotels which have an impressive selection of restaurants within the resort. Navarino Dunes golf course is a short walk away so you can practise as much as you like and there are regular shuttles to the three other golf courses included.
Town stay
If you want to soak up the local atmosphere, then lovely town hotels may be the place for you. Stay in historic Cascais near Lisbon in Portugal and stroll around the beautiful streets or dine in the local restaurants. A trip to Sintra is a must during your stay and take your pick from the amazing golf courses including Estoril and Penha Longa. Paphos on beautiful Cyprus is another coastal resort where staying near the quayside may appeal if you enjoy nightlife and absorbing local history. We arrange private transfers to all the great golf courses on the island.
Self drive
If exploring the area is part of your holiday plan, then the flexibility of a car would suit you. Golfers who travel with us to France and Belgium with Golf Planet Holidays tend to self drive using Le Shuttle and the freedom of the open roads there can be very enjoyable as you motor along. You can also mix and match your holiday accommodation, immersing yourself in a golf resort for a few days before exploring cities and countryside.
Private transfers For all our holidays in Spain, Portugal, South Africa and Morocco we are delighted to arrange private transfers so even if you are staying on a golf resort you are not limited to the 18 holes right in front of you. If you are staying in Cape Town and playing golf there, private transfers can be preferable as you navigate your way to golf and then grab a hirecar to head up towards the stunning Garden Route and the great golf courses and towns.
