You know how it goes. You volunteered to sort the society trip back in the clubhouse, and now you’re the one fielding twenty WhatsApp messages about flight times, who’s sharing with whom, and whether the deposit’s gone in yet. Organising a golf trip for 12 to 24 players is a thankless job, right up until the moment you hand it to someone who does it for a living.
That’s where we come in. Golf Planet Holidays has been arranging tailor-made golf trips for UK societies since 1981, and the Western Cape is one of the most rewarding group destinations we sell. World-class courses, sterling that stretches a long way, and a from-price of just
Why South Africa works for a UK society
For a group of 12 to 24, the Cape ticks every box. The exchange rate means a round on a championship course and a comfortable bed cost a fraction of what you’d pay in mainland Europe, so your members’ money goes further without anyone feeling short-changed. The golf is genuinely world-class, the welcome is warm, and the whole region is built for groups who want to play hard and dine well.
Crucially for a society, the numbers work in your favour. The more players you bring, the stronger the group rate we can negotiate, and the better the chance the organiser plays free. We quote everything in GBP from a from-price of
The courses your society will play
Cape Town is one of the great golfing cities, and we build your itinerary from a roster of courses that mix history, pedigree and sheer variety, ideal for a society that wants a different test every day:
- Royal Cape Golf Club — the oldest club in the country and a proper occasion to play; a flat, classic parkland test that group golfers love.
- King David Mowbray, Cape Town — a characterful, tree-lined layout in the shadow of Devil’s Peak with water in play and a real sting in the tail.
- Metropolitan Golf Club — a links-style course minutes from the city centre, exposed to the wind and a fair fight for every standard of player.
- Milnerton Golf Club — a true seaside links along the coast with Table Mountain as your backdrop on the back nine.
- Steenberg, Tokai — a polished resort course set among the Constantia winelands, manicured and memorable.
We’ll pace the rounds to suit your group, mixing the marquee names with the relaxed ones so nobody’s worn out by day three.
Where our specialists would stay in South Africa
Where your group will stay
We match the hotel to the character of your society, whether you want to be in the thick of Cape Town or tucked away somewhere quieter:
- The Bay Hotel, Camps Bay, Cape Town — beachfront and buzzing, with bars and restaurants on the doorstep; the natural pick for a sociable group that wants the evenings to go on.
- Spier Hotel, Stellenbosch — set on a working wine estate in the heart of the winelands, perfect if your society fancies pairing the golf with a few tastings.
- The Farmhouse Hotel, Langebaan — a relaxed coastal base on the lagoon, great value and an easy-going atmosphere for a more laid-back tour.
Whichever you choose, we handle the room lists, the rooming pairs and the group-dinner bookings so the organiser doesn’t spend the holiday playing receptionist.
Hosted, escorted, and entirely hands-off
Some societies are happy to run their own week once the framework’s in place. Others, especially on a first visit or with a larger group, want it all taken care of. We offer both. Our hosted and escorted society tours put someone on the ground to manage the tee times, the transfers between courses and hotel, and the day-to-day logistics, so the organiser can put the clubs in the boot and actually enjoy the trip they spent months arranging.
We’re an enquiry-based specialist, which means there’s no fixed package to squeeze your group into. You tell us your numbers, your budget per head and the kind of week you want; we design it around you and send a clear GBP quote. Flights to Cape Town are an ATOL-protected add-on we’re glad to arrange, or you’re welcome to book your own and let us handle everything on the ground. Either way, your money stays in trust with PTS until you’ve travelled.

Our South Africa society pricing starts at
Is our money protected before we travel?
Yes. Golf Planet Holidays is ATOL Protected, and your group’s money is held in trust with PTS until you have travelled. Every deposit you collect from members is safeguarded from the moment it’s paid.
Do you arrange flights, or just the golf and hotels?
Both. We can add ATOL-protected flights to Cape Town to your quote, or you can book your own and we’ll handle all the golf, hotels and transfers on the ground. The choice is yours, and the GBP quote is clear either way.
Can you organise the whole trip so the organiser doesn't have to?
Absolutely, that’s the point. We build the itinerary, secure the courses and rooms, manage the rooming lists and can provide a hosted or escorted host on the ground. The organiser hands us the headache and very often plays free.
