About Zimbali Golf Club
Zimbali Golf Club is home to a spectacular 18-hole golf course at the heart of a beautiful eco-conscious estate. The first eleven holes take you over rolling hills, which present ideal vantage points from which to enjoy the magnificent views. Holes twelve to eighteen explore the Zimbali indigenous forest.
The golf course is buggy only as you negotiate the stunning natural landscape. The tee boxes are often in slightly tricky positions to avoid disturbing the environment.
Designed by former British and South African PGA Champion Tom Weiskopf.
- Clubhouse restaurant
- Buggies
- Golf courses within 30 minutes include Beachwood Country Club, Royal Durban and Durban Country Club
Our take
Buggies are compulsory at Zimbali, and Tom Weiskopf's routing shows you why, rolling over hills for eleven holes before diving into indigenous forest for the run home.
- Serious golfersWeiskopf set many of the tee boxes at awkward angles to spare the forest, so the shot you want is rarely the shot you're offered; being able to work the ball both ways gets its reward here.
- Higher handicapsThe compulsory buggy spares your legs over the rolling front eleven, and the trees keep most of the coastal breeze off, but the forest holes from the 12th punish anything crooked, so club for the fairway, not the flag.
- CouplesThe eco-conscious estate around the course is half the appeal, with views over the coast from the hilltop holes and forest closing round the finish; sharing a buggy here is a very agreeable way to spend a morning.
