• Serious golfersWeiskopf set many of the tee boxes at awkward angles to spare the forest, so the shot you want is rarely the shot you're offered; being able to work the ball both ways gets its reward here.
• Higher handicapsThe compulsory buggy spares your legs over the rolling front eleven, and the trees keep most of the coastal breeze off, but the forest holes from the 12th punish anything crooked, so club for the fairway, not the flag.
• CouplesThe eco-conscious estate around the course is half the appeal, with views over the coast from the hilltop holes and forest closing round the finish; sharing a buggy here is a very agreeable way to spend a morning.
