Seahouses Golf Club in Northumberland is a traditional links course with incredible views over the North Sea. The par of 68 is difficult to beat as you negotiate your way round the 18 holes including two outstanding par threes. The challenging tenth hole sees you playing over the famous Logan's Loch and the 15th Cove hole will stay in your mind for many moons to come. As if the quality of the course wasn't enough there are spectacular views over the dramatic coastline as far out as The Farne Islands.
- Trolleys and buggies for hire
- Play alongside Seahouses, Goswick, Bamburgh Castle and Slaley Hall
Our take
Short on the card and dead flat underfoot, Seahouses looks like easy pickings until the water starts collecting, and it collects on more holes than a seaside course has any right to.
- Higher handicapsShort and friendly on the legs, but the carry over Logan's Loch at the 10th will find out a nervous swing. Tee up a ball you are prepared to lose.
- SocietiesQuick to walk, with no climbing at all, and full of talking points, the Cove hole at the 15th chief among them. A natural second round on a Northumberland links tour.
- CouplesNorth Sea views do half the entertaining and the flat ground does the rest. A relaxed half day rather than an ordeal, provided the loch does not eat too many balls.

What you are actually facing
The wind. The wind is usually south-westerly, averaging 16 km/h, gusting to 50. It is the club selection that catches people out, not the yardage.
The water. 21 hazards in play. Bring a few more balls than you think you need.
The design. George Rochester.
