Bamburgh Castle Golf Club ticks all the boxes. This is links golf as it should be with a tremendous golf course under your feet and incredible sea views in front of your eyes. The courses starts with two par threes, followed by two par fives, with a course par of 68 off the whites. The views are equally outstanding with views of Lindisfarne, the Farne Islands the Cheviots and or course Bamburgh Castle. This is a classic links and a must on a golf trip to Northumberland.

Our take
Bamburgh hands you castle, Cheviot and island views in every direction, a par of 68, and rather more climbing than the scorecard admits.
- CouplesScenic stuff, Lindisfarne and the Farne Islands out to sea, the castle and the Cheviots behind. Short enough at par 68 to leave the afternoon free, though the climbs earn you your dinner.
- Higher handicapsTwo gentle par threes ease you in, then the 3rd and 4th, both par fives, do the early damage. Survive those with your score intact and par 68 starts to look reachable.
- SocietiesExpect around 165 metres of climbing across the round, so slower walkers will feel it late on, but a links with these views keeps every standard of golfer in good humour.
