• Serious golfersFourteen water hazards on a completely flat site means every miss is visible from the tee. Add a steady sea breeze and this becomes a plotting course, with the driver mostly staying in the bag.
• Higher handicapsThere is not a metre of climb all round, which makes it an easy, flat walk from first tee to last, but pack plenty of spare balls. The lagoons collect them all day long.
• Non-golfersThe beach is within walking distance of the course and Albufeira is on the doorstep, so this is an easy pick for a mixed group where half the party would rather be by the sea.
