About O’Connor Jnr. course Amendoeira
This challenging golf course, designed by Christy O’Connor Jnr., takes full advantage of its location. Its various water features, both lakes and watercourses that are spread throughout the entire course, demand accuracy from all golfers. The rich topsoil has been skillfully landscaped and planted with mature palm trees, giving the course a lush, ornamental setting.

Our take
Water sets the examination on the O'Connor Jnr course at Amendoeira, with lakes and streams threaded through a flat, palm-lined resort layout.
- Serious golfersAccuracy is the entire brief here. Lakes and watercourses thread through nearly every hole, and because the ground is pan flat with a steady breeze, the loose iron shot has nowhere to hide.
- Higher handicapsBring a generous supply of golf balls. The water is relentless off the tee and into the greens, and a 24 handicap will donate a few. The flat walking and connected tees at least keep the round moving.
- Buddy tripsA proper match-play course for a group, because the water makes every hole winnable or losable in one swing. Palm trees and lush surroundings give it a big resort feel without any climb in the legs.
