Our take

The oldest course in Cyprus sits in twelfth century monastery grounds high above Paphos, yet the round itself is a level, easy walk.

Minthis Golf Club: your questions answered

Is Minthis Golf Club worth playing?

Yes, if you want history and a proper test rather than a flat resort round. Minthis is the oldest golf course in Cyprus and blends into dramatic terrain in the grounds of a twelfth century monastery, with views over the Troodos Mountains. It suits golfers who enjoy a demanding, characterful round; it is less suited to anyone wanting an easy, forgiving layout.

Who designed the golf course at Minthis?

Donald Steel designed Minthis in 1994, making it the oldest golf course in Cyprus. The layout has since been extensively enhanced by the designers Mackenzie & Ebert. It is an 18-hole, par 72 mountain course, set within the grounds of a twelfth century monastery with views over the Troodos Mountains.

How difficult is Minthis?

Minthis is a demanding course, and we would say so plainly rather than oversell it as a gentle holiday knock. The par 72 blends into dramatic mountain terrain, which is a large part of its appeal but does test your game. Come expecting a proper challenge rather than a card-friendly stroll.

How much does it cost to play Minthis with Golf Planet Holidays?

There is no fixed green fee to quote here because Minthis is sold as part of a golf holiday built around your dates rather than as a standalone round, and we do not publish a from-price for this course page. The green fee is built into your package price, quoted per person. Enquiries are free with no payment or obligation, and quotes arrive by email.

Can Golf Planet Holidays book my tee times at Minthis?

Yes. A named golf specialist plans the whole trip, books your tee times at Minthis, including the hard-to-get ones, and arranges transfers between your hotel and the course. Golf Planet Holidays has hand-built golf holidays since 1981, is rated 4.9 on Google and is PTS protected, with ATOL cover where flights are included. Flights themselves are an optional add-on.

Where is Minthis Golf Club?

Minthis sits in the Paphos region of Cyprus, in a historic setting within the grounds of a twelfth century monastery, with views over the Troodos Mountains. It is classed as a mountain course rather than a coastal one, so expect dramatic terrain. Your specialist pairs it with a Paphos-area hotel and arranges transfers between the hotel and the course, so finding your way there is taken care of.

Frequently asked questions

Golf holidays in Cyprus — answers to the questions our golfers ask most.

Where should I play golf in Cyprus?

PGA Cyprus at Aphrodite Hills is a must and the surrounding golf courses are maturing nicely and are well worth a day out.

Is it easy to get around in Cyprus?

Getting around Cyprus is straightforward, though a hire car is recommended if you want to explore beyond your resort. Most golf holidays are based in Paphos where the main courses — Aphrodite Hills and PGA National Cyprus — are both within 20 minutes. We include private transfers from the airport to your hotel and can arrange inter-course transfers as part of your package. Roads are well maintained, driving is on the left (same as the UK) and signage is in both Greek and English.

Is Cyprus good for families?

Cyprus is an excellent destination for family golf holidays. The island's reliable sunshine, calm clear Mediterranean waters and excellent resort facilities cater well to mixed groups. Aphrodite Hills Resort has a water park, tennis, spa and restaurants, meaning non-golfers and children are genuinely well catered for. The island is safe, English is widely spoken, and the relatively short flight from the UK (4.5 hours) makes it manageable with younger children. Many families extend their stay with beach time in the Paphos or Ayia Napa areas.

Can I cross between North and South Cyprus?

Yes, it is possible to cross between the Republic of Cyprus and Northern Cyprus at designated checkpoints. For golf holidays however, this is rarely relevant — all the main courses including Aphrodite Hills, PGA National Cyprus and Secret Valley are located in the south near Paphos, so you won't need to cross. Cyprus is a compact island and the golf region around Paphos is easily accessible from both Paphos Airport (15 minutes) and Larnaca Airport (90 minutes). We recommend focusing your stay in the Paphos area.

Are flights included?

Our golf holidays are arranged ground-only — hotel, golf and transfers. You can add flights through us, and those flights are ATOL protected as part of your booking.

How do golf holidays with Golf Planet Holidays work?

Every trip is tailor-made. Tell us your group, dates and the destinations you fancy, and we build a personal itinerary — hotel, golf and transfers — around them. There are no fixed packages to squeeze into; we shape the whole break to suit how your group likes to play.
